Victory is important. Control is everything.

Conquest: Frontier Wars, a refined deep space RTS that will have you not only fight for domination among the stars, but also manage and defend the territories you've conquered, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

The wormhole theory has proven to be more than just scientific construct. The application of that space-time phenomenon allowed mankind to begin their conquest of the galaxy. But, as you might have expected, the stars were not put in the sky for us to simply take. We met with resistance. The first contact with alien races, the insectoid Mantis and the pure-energy Celaerans led to conflict of scale unimaginable to the previous generations of Earthlings. A realisation came quickly--we needed to forget everything we thought we knew about warfare, adapt, and conquer. Because we are humans, and that's what we do.

Conquest: Frontier Wars isn't your typical space-warfare RTS. It offers many original features that make it a unique experience that can be enjoyed by newcomers and hardcore fans of the genre alike. You'll have up to six AI fleet admirals under your command, that will do whatever it takes to carry out your orders when you can't participate in the ongoing campaign personally. And that's going to happen a lot, as the wormhole mechanics that connect different sectors of the galaxy, can force you to manage up to sixteen territories simultaneously. You'll have to pay attention to the smallest detail, even taking care of the supply lines for your outposts. All that, of course, on top of satisfying real-time space battles.

Think big. Expand your influence, planet by planet, star by star. Craft a galactic empire that will last a thousand lifetimes. Get Conquest: Frontier Wars, for only $5.99!

F4LL0UT: Lol. I don't believe it. I always thought and heard that there's few space-themed RTS games and yet GOG keeps releasing new ones all the time. Seriously, GOG. Are you developing them yourselves and than pretending that they were originally released ages ago? :D
This one was kind of released ages ago. I think that's why I love it so much because it came out amidst a slew of almost identicle and equally drab space RTS games (most of them Homeworld clones) but had so many unique touches to it that it easily stood out from the crowd. I guess this should be taken into account before purchasing; to paraphrase Eddie Murphy, if you give a starving man a cracker, he will call it the best cracker he ever ate.

I thought GOG had this already, but apparently it was one of those titles everyone knew already that are coming to GOG at some point.

Oh yeah, this is the game with the very Starship Trooper-ish music, I'd even say ripping the movie off:

Nice to see it here anyway, space RTS games are definitely my thing, especially when they are DRM-free.

Yep, the developers spilled the beans a few months ago.

I thought it's "give a man a cracker and you feed him for an hour; give him a cracker factory and you feed him until he gets sick of crackers".
Nice! Insta-buy for me. A relatively standard but robust RTS in space and with great ambience (the Basil Poledouris-esque soundtrack by James Hannigan makes every action that bit more Epic) and it's great fun to form fleets, appoint admirals and sweep across the map.

JudasIscariot: You keep a skull with the souls of your conquered enemies writhing in eternal torment on your desk. I highly doubt a quart of blood is really going to ruffle any feathers around here. :D

JMich: Have you any idea what a quart of blood in close proximity to a skull filled with the souls of your conquered enemies can do?
On the other hand, you may prefer your office with fewer walls.
As long as you don't spill it, she'll be right :D
would probably have bought it if it worked on windows 8
INSTANT BUY!!!!! THANKS GOG!
YESSSS!!!!!!!!

This game was awesome when i played the demo in 2001!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like one of those "right up my alley" type of games. Thanks GOG

tinyE:
Yes, yes, yes, and double yes.

The first time I played the game I got slammed so hard, then by the time I was ready to try it out again, my computer of the time refused to play it right.
A very nice game. I actually own this in a German version (which is kind of butchered since all the texts are German but every voice-over is English, so stuff often doesn't match up (especially relating to units and order commands and whatnot). I might buy this again when it goes on sale because I really enjoy it. The bug stops here!

Pheace: I've got Endless Space and Sins Rebellion to keep me entertained for now. Besides, it looks mission based, never liked that.
It has battle setups just like Sins and Endless Space do...

It just has a single player campaign included as well like most games used to have, also MP if you have friends.

I was under the assumption that everything that works with Windows 7 works fine with Windows 8?

Bah ha ha ha, I thought the exact same thing when I heard it. Still great music though; I'm glad the soundtrack is included.

By the way, here's a discussion forum:

Maybe the source code will be added to the release eventually.
