No place for cowards, really!

Braveland, an adorable but nonetheless epic turn-based strategy full of fantasy, charm, and clever tactics, is available DRM-free for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com, for only $4.99.

Braveland is a turn-based game inspired by old-school strategies with hexagonal battlefield. You will start as a humble warrior's son whose village was cruelly raided and will end as talented commander of your army. The story will take place in a hand-drawn world and cover many interesting places and characters. Various warriors will join your army - archers, scouts, healers, footmen, arbalesters, and more. With 50 battles that will test your tactical skill, 26 unit types to populate the battlefield, intense boss fights, character development, and adorable graphics style, this little gem of a game can serve as a savory appetizer for some, and the main course in the strategic feast for others.

If you thought that mighty magical heroes will never return to the land of 2D, Braveland is here to prove you wrong, for only $4.99 on GOG.com.
A release in Monday? And the game at least looks cute, wishlisted for now to see the rewiews.
Seems like the most casual HoM&M. :)
Looks like something that I would play on an phone/tablet.
Also reminds me of FF Tactics. Wishlisted.
Shame! There is no version for Linux on GOG. Again :(
Looks like "Heroes of Might and Magic Light" to me.

Not sure what it adds to the genre...

Maybe some of the folks who try out the game can enlighten me.
Am I the only one that thinks it looks like "Chutes & Ladders"? :P
Looks like Battle for Wesnoth in more expensive and less pretty. I'd rather pay for Wesnoth, to be honest.

Edit - nevermind. I had judged from the screenshots. The video does indeed hint at a decently-animated HOMM-lite thing.

Graphics style very similiar to Kingdom Rush. Looks interesting
This is an application for iphone ported to PC, isn't it?
(Doesn't mean it's not good...)

Acoording to the official site, it looks like it was released on all platforms (except for Android for now) at the same time :)
high rated
I beta tested an iOS build of Braveland and enjoyed it even though it's more casual. It's a Heroes of Might and Magic style combat game with hexagonal turn based battles and stacked units, with more linear world exploration (set paths, occassional branching). There's a resource (gold) management component forcing your to decide how to customize your army - add units, buy abilities, diversity unit types. Your "hero" has a series of unlockable special attacks, buffs, etc that can be used occassionally to turn the tide of battle and can be equipt with weapons/armor that alter stats. With linear world exploration and rewards from combat the game can feel mildly grindy at times but once you beat a foe they disappear so that keeps difficulty balance in check; losing battles rewards partial gold. Winning battles rewards gold but reduces payout by damage incurred (healing costs). Eventually you amass a large enough army you have to decide which unis to play or bench (up to 5). I enjoyed Braveland, it's simplified in some ways but a good mix of accessible casual play with traditional hexagon bashing. The art design is cute but generic and script is playful. I played at least 4 hours and think there's probably under 10 hours of content. Braveland is worth a download but there are more detailed/difficult HOMM successors on GOG (but on smart phones there's few games that compare).

Braveland is available on iPhone but it was just released on both platforms (GOG, Steam, and iOS) so not really a "port" but a cross platform release.
