BloodNet, a dark cyberpunk adventure classic with RPG elements, in which vampires take Manhattan--and cyberspace!--and the stake of the game is your very soul, is available for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com, for only $5.99!

In 2094 the children of the night have a new playground, as far from the burning rays of sunlight as possible--the cyberspace. With the wired and wireless networks covering the whole of New York with a thick digital shroud, there's virtually no place out of their reach. The fact that you have fangs at the helms of the mega-corporations doesn't help either. It would seem that humanity is doomed. But this isn't the story of the human race's fall. It's a story of one person's struggle. When you wake up with two bite marks on your neck in the middle of vampire-ridden Manhattan, and you start to feel the HUNGER, there's very little time to save your soul. Just remember to install some humanity-boosters in your cyber-deck.

BloodNet is a remarkable game that brilliantly blends horror and cyberpunk in a mixture of adventure and RPG gameplay. You will explore the gritty locations of a high-tech futuristic city full of cyber-enhanced freaks, and tread the dangerous paths of the Cyberspace, that houses more demons than it did ever before. Build a team of deckers, cyberpunks, mercenaries, and rage gangers to help you in your desperate fight for your last threads of humanity. With a dark, memorable story, a haunting setting, graphics that aged surprisingly well, and hours of exciting and original gameplay, this classic title is a cyberpunk delight you cannot say no to.

Face some of mankind's greatest fears and enter the high-tech realm of BloodNet, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Nobake: I was really interested based on the initial description. Vampires and Cyberpunk? Hell yes!

Then I saw "point-and-click adventure." Meh, bordering on Bleh.

Crosmando: P&C adventure/RPG hybrid.
True, and I like RPGs. Nonetheless the P&C part is a problem for me. I should clarify a bit.
Theoretically I don't have a problem with P&C adventures, as far as interface and such. But I have thus far been unable to complete any of them without resorting to walkthroughs for nearly every one of the puzzles that are the hallmark of the genre. Occasionally the solutions make sense using some sort of insane troll logic, but mostly they just seem designed by crack addicts. It isn't fun, my brain doesn't bend that way :P (Come to think of it, I did complete one of the King's Quest games. Still doesn't really count as it was done by mindlessly trying everything everywhere until something worked, not actual puzzle-solving.)

I mostly play games for the story, so in a vacuum I'd be perfectly willing to go along with that. But I can also get good stories from games where I enjoy the non-narrative bits, or I can play a visual novel and get my narrative uninterrupted by googling for answers.

At least that was what I got from the adventures I tried in the mid 90's, a time relevant to this game. Haven't bothered with them since, but I did pick up Book of Unwritten Tales over the winter sale. It looks interesting enough to try and find out if anything has changed in the last 15 years.

So in summary, if BloodNet takes those insane puzzles and replaces them with RPG stuff, I suppose it is worth a look as the setting is very interesting to me. Otherwise: Meh, bordering on Bleh.

Licurg: This is amazing ! I thouht this thing had rights issues ? That it was made after some book or board games or something ? Or am I thinking about another game ?

BTW GOG, since you got a Microprose game, why not get one of their best, if not the best one they ever made?

Oh my goodness I love that game!!!

If any game needs a GOOD remake/update it is that one.
Sounds like it would be awesome, but then it thrown in vampires. I'd have preferred just a straight cyberpunk story.
Cool, I hope Tommo re-releases some of the other Microprose games (Silent Service series is at the top of my list) since Atari really didn't get the chance to before they had financial troubles.

If you don't have the patience for adventure game puzzles, you won't have the patience for the old school difficulty in bloodnet.

I think there was an attempt at a remake in the early 2000s or so, but then all information about it just disappeared :/
And wishlisted until the next sale.
Hell yes!
Some heavy nostalgia right there.
Buying this ASAP.
I love you GOG.

Sweet! Another (wishlist entry) bites the dust - http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/bloodnet.

And hey, since you're releasing the games Tommo acquired from Atari, how's about ......................................

I hope some time during the next few months we do see some new (old) games from Activision and Ubisoft. I continue to be worried since we haven't seen a new release from them in a LONG time.

It actually looks a little complicated. :D Give me a few hours and a few pots of coffee and I'll give it more consideration.

Looks like a really cool and interesting game, happy to see more classics from Microprose here
This is a fantastic game.
Try to overlook the terrible battle mechanics, and focus on the beautiful atmosphere and story.
Many side quests that have a deep story behind them.

triock: If you want to play this game with speech AND subs - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mojotouch.simon
Shame they don't make this also for PC. :/

Kunovski: if I had a tablet I'd buy this instantly, that's HOW MUCH I want to play this game again... but only with texts is a bit "been there, done that", yet the talkie-only version is too hard for me, I'm not that good in English
I distinctly remember playing Simon 1 with both speech and subtitles using SCUMMVM.

Never heard of this, but it kind of looks cool.
