I have to wonder - do the GOG members that repeatedly complain about the indie releases in every single indie release thread think/ expect that if they keep complaining, GOG will stop releasing them?

Surely the fact that it's been almost two years now that GOG started releasing indie titles and still does so should be at least an indication that they have no such plans.
And they shouldn't either - not every single game released on GOG needs to cater to one's specific gaming preferences.

It's not about not releasing them but to release more of the old games, slight difference.
And as some mentioned there are still alot of games left like the sierra games.

Don't like it either so many indies, but atleast i just learned to go with it and keep quiet about it.

Matruchus: Yeah, gog already made a decision on that when they changed the name from good old games to gog.com only. There really aren't that many "classics" released anymore and they are mostly just fitted in these categories: adventure, click and point, platformer, rpg and action games. You rarely see strategy or simulation games anymore.

tburger: Tommo still owns PLENTY of unreleased oldies in their catalog (including a bunch of flight sims that are rare here).
Cinemaware claimed that they want to release their catalog here.
I'm also certain EA still has sth in their vaults.

EDIT: and one more thing - there are dozen of old titles on DotEMU not present here either (even if you put SEGA aside).
Yeah, you are right about DotEmu. I looked the siteup and they really have a lot of games that aren't on gog. Especially I really can't understand why Majesty Gold HD is still not here. Afterall it is available in every store besides this and mostly in drm-free form.

I can understand that but the frequency, manner and tone of complaining comes across as if indies take up release spots from old classic games. Which is not true - as has been repeatedly said and demonstrated, it's not as simple as "we want this game on GOG" - "sure, here it is"; there are often too many and sometimes unresolvable licensing issues, tech/ compatibility porblems, plus TET said in an interview a long time ago that a release has to also make financial sense for GOG.
JMich has also repeatedly demonstrated that the release of old classic games has not declined after GOG entered the indie scene - which would not be unthinkable, not because of the indies released, but because it's getting harder and harder over time.

Constantly complaining won't magically solve any of the real issues that cause some games to still be missing from GOG's catalogue.
What part of the above is so hard to understand that people can't demonstrate some patience and also come to terms that some games may never be released here?

Telika: But what about Warblade and Aztaka and Creeper World ?
I still hope that we get Creeper World 3 (and 1+2) on GOG ...

I sign that. The most simple, but sometimes crazy hard games but extremely enjoyable. Creeper World 3 is a real gem.
I bought it on gamersgate and couldn't get away from it for a week.

I would buy Majesty Gold HD here if it was available. I did end up getting it at DotEmu but I'm not a fan of how they package their games (installer) so I don't really buy anything there anymore.

Wonder if GOG just don't care about those titles or if they weren't in on the secret handshake the publisher wanted to get the title on. I think the handshake in part involves hoping on one foot as you do it, but I may be giving too much away there.

Kinda sad that this thread is 5 pages, but only a couple of posts are actually about Beatbuddy.

I don't blame this on GOG, who is trying to offer more games/more variety to their library.

If anything, I think the whiners who troll every release (indie or no) are actually bringing the demise of the GOG community.

You say: "But I want GOG to hear my voice!" There's a time and a place for that. Make your own complaint threads, if you wish.

But it seems like game-specific threads are being bombarded with non-game-specific comments. You want to make every game you don't care about (or even know about) into a example: "But it's about the principle!" Uh, no. It's about you making noise. It hasn't even occurred to you that someone might be interested in knowing more about Beatbuddy and has to wade through pages of your non-sequitur ranting.

Go troll games that you've actually played and disliked.

The sales of each title here will speak for themselves. Or, perhaps, that's your fear.

I purchased it, so I guess maybe I'm a bad person or something. :)

But the whiners are like many MMO players - cry and whine on top of their lungs for everything they don't like. That's what turns me off to most MMO's - those players. Those type are here as well. And, they get positive reinforcement so that's why they do it. Look at the regional pricing thread to see craploads of examples (and YES the actual beef was legit in many of their minds - but I'm not talking about them coherently complaining - but instead about the pages and pages of whinging and crying over and over by the same posters - over and over and over and over (and over) again).

It's sad.

[this is sure to be a popular post to them]

that would be so cool
I'm no ass kisser, but I'm happy with today's release
beatbuddy is a well designed platofmer with - for sure - a kickass ost/music
a true must have, indie or not, who cares :)

Are there whiners in the Risen thread? Please point me to those posts. (I'm sincere in this request, because honestly I haven't seen whiners trolling "every" release.)

Frankly I think this is just blown out of proportion. It's like three or four people complaining or discussing their disappointment about the apparent lack of classics, in this thread and amongst themselves.

I'm going to reiterate my stance (and, I guess, stand up for the "dissenters"): I think maybe this is a good game, but I would have liked to have seen a unknown classic today, maybe a DOS title that isn't hard to get running on modern machines. We know Pegasus Prime is coming Thurs., which is excellent, but it'd be nice to get another classic this week.

It's funny, but I keep adding these future linux games mentally, you know
like "yep another release that has a linux port/dosbox/scummvm/etc"
YAY!

But, as usual, GOG will surprise me and a lot of people in August with tasty drm-free linux exclusives like they do with the mac ones :P
I don't know, I just know :)

SCPM: Risen 2
Already?!
But I didn't even download Risen 1
holy crap :(

I doubt GOG folks would be talking about Linux if they dot really decided to go in that area, since they was pretty careful about it before.
Its about time, already, most of other stores gone Linux friendly more or less, Desura, Steam, IGS, Humble, even GamersGate. GOG just have to start working on that or they will lose any chance to have linux gamers auditorium.
Okay, just because I was also more or less negative, I want to clarify:

I have nothing against this release, I just mentioned that I personally am not interested in it. I normally don't post in release threads about games that aren't to my taste, just in this case the release post piqued my interest, while the trailer completely destroyed it, just because I really disliked the music that's such a big part of it.

I also expressed my disappointment that we only got one game today, when the norm is two. I don't care if they are indie or classics, but I'd really like o see two releases each Tuesday and Thursday, regardless of whether or not we get games on other days too.
