How many likes would a roguelike-like give if a roguelike-like could like roguelike-likes?

Ascendant, a randomly generated beat-em up where you wield powers most divine, is now on GOG.com for $8.49 (15% off the full price) until 9:59 AM GMT on 20 May 2014.

The gods may be crazy but they remain very deadly. As a demigod yourself, you'll be invading the realms of your pesky, pernicious rivals to take their power by force. Looks interesting as long as there's a twist and some gadgets and not too hard. Do you unlock moves or items and do you follow some kind of plot?

I find the general premise of this game and its art style very appealing, though I will probably do some research/wait for a review before purchasing it. Wishlisted though.

I'm also interested in info about the multiplayer.

Does Ascendant have local multiplayer and also what kind of multiplayer does it offer. Is it the main game played with two players or challenge stages/versus mode or something else.
(Local = Split-screen?)

Gathering from the Steam store page, their own website, and the description in Indiegamestand, it does have local multiplayer, and it's the main game played by two players. Looks fun!

This looks fun. The rogue quality raises the stakes and forces a hefty chunk of caution.

Yep. It is made to be used with the controller, although the mouse and keyboard work just fine too.

As for your progress, there is some story to find as well as plenty of unlocks as you progress through the game.

Hmm, I'll mull this one over for a bit. Hopefully, it doesn't suffer like Redshirt did since it looks pretty.

Nirth: Are they saved or do you have to keep getting everything from every playthrough?
They work like Binding of Isaac. You unlock items that can be found in the game.
