SLP2000: I'd love to see Dishonored here

cyboff: me too!
Me, three! Then I wouldn't have to go buy it.

"I have no idea how that promotional code got redeemed by my account!"

(Note: DISHONORED NOT CONFIRMED. Someone had to say it. :P)

htown1980: I gotta say, I totally agree with timppu here. and you appear to have completely missed the point. the issue with GG is that it is often not clear whether there actually is or isn't DRM and how invasive the DRM may be. With GoG it's not an issue at all. It's always completely DRM free (as opposed to sometimes is, sometimes isn't, kind of is - "other DRM" for example - that you get with GG). I appreciate that.
avatar
Fred_DM: i know GG aren't consistent with their product information, but the point is that you cannot claim that GOG now has an edge over other digital retailers by offering ArmA 2 DRM-free when the DRM has already been patched out of the game by the developers.

we're not talking about 100 different games here. we're only taking about ArmA 2, so i don't know why you're trying to turn this into a GG vs. GOG discussion. that's not the issue here at all.

you may still claim that the GOG edition has some advantages over the GG edition, but being DRM-free isn't one of them. not in this case.
again, i think you are misunderstanding the point. its not that the GoG edition has advantages over GG edition. its that in general, many people find it preferable to purchase from GoG, rather than GG because you can be assured what the DRM situation is. in that sense its clear that GoG does have an advantage over most other digital retailers. if you can't see that then thats fine.

SLP2000: I thought GOG is releasing full versions only.

JudasIscariot: ARMA 2: Combined Operations is the full game as we received it from the publisher. The DLC or expansion packs are sold seperately everywhere, including the publisher's own page.
Hurray! So I can add some DRM to a DRM-Free game? Great! Love it! -.-

Seriously. It is great to see the game here. But do you have any plan for the DLCs? Besides pointing to other sites with DRM-Crap.

KOCollins: I would love to see more oldies myself, there are many they don't have that I loved. Personally, I'm trying to look on the bright side here, and at least they brought another good game to GOG, very new, yes, but, good, and DRM free. The glass is half full today to me. But I do understand where you are coming from. :)
Yeah, I totally understand.
I come from the fact that I am sort of a collector and I want newer games only in boxes (even though they are far less meaningful then in the old days). I try to get the oldies that I missed in boxes as well. The last catch I made before I was forced to put buying games on hold was Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, CDtalkie version with full color manual and several other goodies. That is the important factor for me, joy of getting a new, physical copy of the game, which digital releases can't provide.
And the above is why GOG is so important to me when it comes to older games that cannot be bought anymore. It is the best recreaction of that feeling when you buy a new retail copy of the game.

TheEnigmaticT: I've said this elsewhere, but not here, so I'll say it here as well: I make no promises on when this will happen, but some of our best days of classic game releases are still ahead of us.
You put a huge smile on my face. I'm so easy :D
avatar
Duskwolf: I for one am glad to see newer releases here on GoG, and not only because I am interested in buying some of them. Newer games provide a lot of money for GoG so they can invest more resources into releasing older games. It's a win-win all around.
If they need more money to release older GOGies, I would be honored to back them like on kickstarter.

BTW, sorry GOG team for mentioning Dishonored and I hope you don't get swamped with inquiries when will you release it here :D

Im curious until when is the sale? my payday is tomorrow night so I was wondering if I could buy it in time before it returns to the full price?

What is this game like? So is it like just a series of military missions that is closer to reality and no chance to explore, recruit troops and mess around? I was hoping this was a simulator plus you could create your own private military company or be rebels or something

i give up. i cannot be bothered to keep talking to a brick wall. and let me tell you this: if you cannot even figure out whether DRM has been patched out of a game, you won't stand a chance in a game as complex as ArmA 2.

Come on Fred, can't we GOG enthusiasts just say that we prefer buying games on GOG because we like GOG better than other digital distributors? Just grant us this little stupid thing. ;)

I can't reveal whether we do or do not have any plans for anything. Sorry :(

IMHO releasing plans for near future (at least as some rumours) can help GOG a lot sometimes - like now with ArmA 2 or Alan Wake - knowing that it would be released also here, a lot of people will not buy it on steam sale few weeks ago...
or e.g. Alien versus Predator is now on sale on DotEmu or GG - should I wait or go buy it there? :D

I'll let TET do the rumour and other things related to that :D. He's much, much better at it :D

We generally try to never have any plans. Every release is a surprise for everyone! :P
Very nice release.

That is up to you. But you will understand that I don't buy the game from GOG as long there is no announcement about how GOG is going to deal with DLCs for this and for other games which will be released on GOG.
