No one wants to be a bad person.

Always Sometimes Monsters, a unique modern adventure title focusing on real world problems and traps of social life rather than fantasy and lighthearted escapism, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $8.99 for the first week.

Most games aim to take us as far from everyday problems as possible and set us on fantastic quests to perform in the realm of imagination. Yet the real life and interaction with other people tends to be much more challenging, and the obstacles we find on our way every day are much more difficult. In most games, there's always a good way out of most situations. It's the reality that often drops impossible choices on us. This is a game about such choices. Here, out of money and out of luck, you find yourself heart broken and on the verge of collapse. You set out on the open road on a mission to win back the love of your life. The story from there is up to you. Can your life be salvaged, or are we always sometimes monsters?

Always Sometimes Monsters is a title designed for a mature gamer who isn't afraid to face his fears and problems that reflect what we're dealing with each day in the real world. You'll be faced with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, mental health, sexual assault, child abuse, animal abuse, drug abuse, and suicide. Every choice you make affects the virtual (yet lifelike) world and affects the protagonist and the people you'll meet on your path. You may find yourself struggling with every decision, but the outcome--whatever it might turn out to be--has the potential to feel like katharsis.

If you think you're up for the challenge that seems far from everything you've faced so far in the gaming realm, make sure to sign up for the original experience that is Always Sometimes Monsters, a Devolver Digital release, for only $8.99 on GOG.com. The 10% off release discount offer lasts until Wednesday, May 28, at 4:00PM GMT.

Matruchus: Im sorry but all of the above games listed fall in to the boring category for me. All the games in last months are without exception rpg, adventure, plaformer + here and there action titles.
What's the non-boring category for you then?
I am somewhat hardly intrigued.

mistermumbles: What is this? Indie crapfest week? =P

Seriously though, none of these lo-fi unexciting releases are of any interest to me.

Matruchus: Its not just this week. This is going on for some time now. Besides The Last Federation + Luftrausers release in last months nothing was interesting for me. Will probably have to start using Steam heavily again which is not what I wan't but well we can't have everything and gog is certainly a disapointment in last half year.
you guys... :D don't tell me you don't have a huge backlog of games here :) I mean, I'm personally glad that there aren't many interesting titles lately for me, at least I'll save some money and will get a chance to catch up ;)
Devolver Digital has yet to disappoint, so this one is definitely wishlisted. Hotline Miami 2 and The Gods Will be Watching are also highly anticipated.

Strategy, Simulation.

Let say something like Railroad Tycoon, Red Alert, Meridian: New World, Tropico 4, Hegemony: Rise of Caesar, Age of Mythology Extended Edition, Spice Road, Endless Space, The Last Federation, Wargame: Red Dragon, Dead Island, Dying Light, European Truck Simulator 2, Ports of Call Deluxe and such. I can go on and on.

And not to mention Z which is on gog.com wishlist for ages and has ower 2.000 votes and nothing happening where as Steam is going to rerelease this classic in less then 2 weeks time. This is what makes me angry mostly. Here link to steam about the release: http://store.steampowered.com/app/275530/

Well you have a good point from the financial perspective :)

Matruchus: Strategy, Simulation.
This year's releases on those categories include:
Spellforce 2: Demons of the Past
Deadlock
Doomdark's Revenge
Banished
7th Legion
The Guild 2
Braveland
Unholy Heights
Age of Wonders 3
1849
F-117

I may have missed a few as well. But there have been releases on those categories as well.

JMich: Bloodnet? Flatout 2? Stalker? SiN? Blackguards? Red Faction? Guild 2? Rex Nebular? Risen? Redline? Sudeki? F-117?
None of the above are adventure games, and most (if not all) were welcomed by the community. Tell me if you want a link to the list of releases, just to refresh your memory, even though it is perfectly acceptable to not have found any of the releases interesting.
You forgot Sword of the Samurai...

justanoldgamer: Interesting concept, I wonder if the execution fill the promises.
Wishlisted for now.

It's nice to see some indie adventure games amongst all the indie platformers.
Those seem to be the two most common type of indie games out there......

That's a category of its own.

True enough. Looks like I'll be saving some money. That said, I'll never catch up on my backlog. Case in point, I bought some 15 games here during sales in the last two weeks, and I'm just about to finish one of them that I started last week. Yeah, it's gotten to the point that I know I'll never be able to play all the games in my backlog.

So why am I buying so many games again? Damned if I know. At least I won't lack a variety of genres from which to pick. ;)

I know those games and on that list I have two on the wishlist Spellforce 2 and Banished (a bit to expensive at the moment). Unholy Heights + Braveland (flashlike games, pass for me). 7th Legion a very bad game for its time, pass. Deadlock games never heard about and not interested. Doomdarks revenege - rpg not strategy. The Guild 2 not my thing. Age of Wonders - not buying at that price and not to forget the regional pricing. 1849 android port - not interested. F-117 not interested.

At this moment by my count just in the adventure and action categories there were 45 games released since new year (19 action, 26 adventure games). And you have 11 releases in strategy where you can strike omerta out since its just a repackaging and you get too 10 releases. Its not that im upset by it. Its just sitting every day and waiting for release and nothing comes that would interest me. As I said last new game I bought was The Last Federation.

These are good ones, but imo we haven't seen any good old game or highly-desired game worth getting really excited over since Journeyman Project 1 back in early April. (I'm referring to how many wishlist votes a game has; F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0 is very well-rated, but it has less than 200 votes.)

By comparison, just today Steam got the first two Rollercoaster Tycoon games, so for those that have a "Steam and GOG are the only two digital distributors worth paying attention to" mindset, GOG doesn't have this "exclusive" anymore. (It had been on GamersGate if not elsewhere.)

Can we expect GOG to stay competitive if they are unable to bring more highly-desired or exciting games? Perhaps, if they can survive strictly on lesser-known indie-style games, and if they continue having more interesting deep-discount sales like the Insomnia titles. I'm not fully confident in that approach because to me it feels like GOG is unable to stand on their own turf and has to dip down to Steam-style tactics (although you could argue, as I believe TET has, that it's just the way the industry is going, "evolve or die", etc.), but the evidence shows the Insomnia sale got a lot new people to check out the site, like 600,000 unique visitors or something like that. (Theme Park was the fastest-moving game, which suggests to me good old games are still GOG's best bet and what they're still known best for on the internet.)

Now to be fair again, in the coming 12 months or so, we can expect some very highly-desired "indie" games to show up - Torment: Tides of Numenera, Wasteland 2, The Witcher 3, Dreamfall Chapters - and I believe The Neverhood is essentially sealed because of SCUMMVM's work, but I look at the wishlist and see all those games not here from publishers that are, and I know I bang on about this a LOT, but it genuinely concerns and frustrates me.

I want to be able to think, "Okay, tomorrow there's a great chance we'll finally get Emperor: ROTMK, or another Caesar game, or ... hey, /maybe/ it is actually Z; there's construction in that game, right? and we know it's destined for Steam on June 6, so maybe GOG was able to get it early? ... but I digress - thus far I've had to take a more pessimistic standpoint about what we can expect because apparently GOG does not have the sway with big publishers that they used to, and thus my pessimistic guess is we'll see Tycoon City: New York with a whopping 16 votes on the wishlist.

But I've banged on far too long, and will probably only ignite flaming and arguments. It does feel good to finally get my thoughts out in the open, though, so please don't fault me for that.
Something I just noticed when visiting this games' official website: GOG seriously needs its own widget!

The same thing was if we talk about votes with the Sword of the Samurai - 251 votes in two years since wishlisting. So much about the number of people wanting it.

Thanks people for down voting me. Truth hurts.
