Part survival horror, part detective novel, part action, and part adventure--a must-have for fans of exciting thrillers and sublime story-telling.

Alan Wake, the psychological action thriller, is available now on GOG.com--and it’s on sale for 50% off for a week! That’s only $14.99 for the game and both DLCs until Tuesday, May 15th at 21.59 GMT.

From Remedy, developers of classic Death Rally and Max Payne 1 & 2, comes a third-person shooter described by its creators as combination of "the mind of a psychological thriller,” and "the body of a cinematic action game.” The player controls Alan Wake, author of popular detective fiction, who needs to find his wife in a perfect and fictional--yet nightmarish and dreadfully real--town of Bright Falls. The story is told in episodes in style similar to a mystery TV series, with each episode having its own plot but revealing new piece of the main puzzle as well. The story is filled with endless twists and cliffhangers, there are recap sequences at the beginning of a new episode, closing credits, and a lot of cinematic sequences--all of these combine to create a fantastic “film noir” atmosphere, unique to the world of PC horror games. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King will find numerous references and inspirations while solving the mystery behind supernatural horrors that infest Bright Falls.

Mr. Wake will walk the streets, find clues, and talk to people during the day; he will fight various enemies during the night. Light is the main weapon in Alan’s fight against the town’s inhabitants who have been possessed by a darkness that transforms them into axe wielding murderers. Enemies are initially impervious to attack, and can only be harmed when exposed to light, coming from your flashlight, flare guns, flares, and environmental sources. Even if you’re not afraid of the dark, the game will keep you on your toes, and once the darkness creeps in you will not want to leave your safely lit havens.

Gripping suspense, intense action, great thriller storytelling, flawless design--yes, Alan Wake is a perfect game. Time magazine named it the best video game of the year, IGN awarded Alan Wake “Best Horror Game”, it has also received numerous nominations for “Best Narrative”, “Best Writing/Story”, and “Best Character” (for Alan Wake).

Grab Alan Wake for the next seven days for only $14.99--and get with the manual, wallpaper, and a number of videos and extra goodies (stay tuned for more extras soon) all for one great price! Expect other great games from Remedy coming in the very near future!
Great game and I'm very surprised to see GOG offering this. Instant purchase of both AW and AW:AN
have a problem. the game is multilanguage but the game start in english, and i don't know how set another language.

in the config i have found this:

xgetlanguage_id, this attribute must be set to one of the values that XGetLanguage may return.
xgetlocale_id, this attribute must be set to one of the values that XGetLocale may return.
folder attribute must be set to the name of the folder that contains data specific to the locale being defined
bink_voiceover_channel attribute must be set to the channel number that is to be used for localized audio in Bink video files.
bink voiceover channel numbers: english = "2", german = "6", french = "7", italian = "8", spanish = "9", lat-am spanish = "10", japanese = "11"
subtitle_default attribute must be set to "0" if subtitles are to be off when the Game starts with no User Profile

so, for example, if i want play in Italian just set
xgetlanguage_id="6" xgetlocale_id="0" folder="it" subtitles_default="0" bink_voiceover_channel="8"

but. WHERE? Where i put this commands? no explanation of this. Somenone can help me to understand how change language? tnx.

TheEnigmaticT: As you might have guessed from the 11:00 PM Warsaw time release, this release didn't go off quite as planned; that said, the pricing that we have on the game page is correct, and MDyzzle just misunderstood me when I called him, told him the details of the price, and then he wrote that announcement.

It's been a little nuts here tonight. Apologies for the crossed communications.
I haven't heard too much praise for American Nightmare. It's been a curiosity at best, especially considering I've yet to even play Alan Wake yet. I wouldn't have jumped on this for $15, but for $11.24... well, I'm looking forward to the both of them now. :)

It's worth noting that the game card price shows a discount of about $1.50. It isn't until the checkout page that the full discount is displayed. Anybody reading this who looked at the game page after already having bought Alan Wake should know that you will be getting it for $11.24 after the discount is applied.
Does this have ALL of the DLC?

The full price is $15, the same as Steam, so the previous post that said it would be $20 ($18 on pre-order) was just a typo.
You don't typo two different prices where one is exactly 10% off the other like the intended discount.

I rather think they pricematched Steam, which is good :)

It does, yes.
Now I'm surprised.
The problem with these releases, is that they look cool, but I can't run them on my laptop. I joined GOG a long time ago, because I wanted great games that would still run on my underpowered hardware.

The world of technology has outpaced my machine, and attempts at traveling back through time have been short lived.

Not to whine (haha), because this is sitll my favorite site of all time.

Great work guys. Maybe have a contest where you can win a decent computer?

Woooo thanks GOG!!
And I was almost going to buy this on steam at release.

Now I will (likely) never buy anything on steam, new or old, because there is a chance that a DRM free (and cheaper) copy will be sold on GOG.

You continue to amaze us you GOG people you

Rincewind81: Just for Information, Rosteck edited the post and lowered the price. It was 17.99 with 10% off and 14.99 with 25% off. Now it is cheaper.

I'm fine with the new prize tag. I just installed Alan Wake and will buy American Nigtmare if i like the game.

Smooth moves GOG!

I'll likely pick this up here, and since I can't find the info elsewhere:

Does this have the Collector's Edition content? I know this comes with the usual GOG goodies like artbooks, soundtracks, and making-of videos. Are the making-of videos the same as the Dev Commentary? I think the latter are videos that play as you go through the game.

Such a great feature to have. (Witcher 3 should have something like in-game commentary).

Grateful for any responses!

Soundtrack?

I've installed the game and can confirm the Dev Commentary in-game, you just need to tick or untick the checkbox in the options for it.

So far, no soundtrack, though. You might be interested to know that it comes with standalone video files for the Night Springs videos.
Thank you!
What are the Night Springs videos? I heard something about other versions having you watch it in-game on the television?

Also this might not be a question you or even the GOG staff can answer but... I noticed there were some patches released for the Steam version--I assume Remedy won't just abandon this version (like what Double Fine kind of did with GOG's Psychonauts release)??
