Part survival horror, part detective novel, part action, and part adventure--a must-have for fans of exciting thrillers and sublime story-telling.

Alan Wake, the psychological action thriller, is available now on GOG.com--and it’s on sale for 50% off for a week! That’s only $14.99 for the game and both DLCs until Tuesday, May 15th at 21.59 GMT.

From Remedy, developers of classic Death Rally and Max Payne 1 & 2, comes a third-person shooter described by its creators as combination of "the mind of a psychological thriller,” and "the body of a cinematic action game.” The player controls Alan Wake, author of popular detective fiction, who needs to find his wife in a perfect and fictional--yet nightmarish and dreadfully real--town of Bright Falls. The story is told in episodes in style similar to a mystery TV series, with each episode having its own plot but revealing new piece of the main puzzle as well. The story is filled with endless twists and cliffhangers, there are recap sequences at the beginning of a new episode, closing credits, and a lot of cinematic sequences--all of these combine to create a fantastic “film noir” atmosphere, unique to the world of PC horror games. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King will find numerous references and inspirations while solving the mystery behind supernatural horrors that infest Bright Falls.

Mr. Wake will walk the streets, find clues, and talk to people during the day; he will fight various enemies during the night. Light is the main weapon in Alan’s fight against the town’s inhabitants who have been possessed by a darkness that transforms them into axe wielding murderers. Enemies are initially impervious to attack, and can only be harmed when exposed to light, coming from your flashlight, flare guns, flares, and environmental sources. Even if you’re not afraid of the dark, the game will keep you on your toes, and once the darkness creeps in you will not want to leave your safely lit havens.

Gripping suspense, intense action, great thriller storytelling, flawless design--yes, Alan Wake is a perfect game. Time magazine named it the best video game of the year, IGN awarded Alan Wake “Best Horror Game”, it has also received numerous nominations for “Best Narrative”, “Best Writing/Story”, and “Best Character” (for Alan Wake).

Grab Alan Wake for the next seven days for only $14.99--and get with the manual, wallpaper, and a number of videos and extra goodies (stay tuned for more extras soon) all for one great price! Expect other great games from Remedy coming in the very near future!
If you are coming to this game for the first time, remember to check this user-editable page of bugs, fixes and workaround: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Alan_Wake - if you discover a fix, take some time to add your own (no account required).
Great, can't wait to get back home to buy my copy. Any chance the soundtrack might appear in the extra goodies anytime in the future?;)

Adzeth: I now wish I could give away my Steam copy..

It seems I won't be able to afford a "Give away all Finnish games on GOG" giveaway on Independence Day anymore :p
Yeah, I too feel like a fucking idiot. I'm not regretting buying my disc copy too much, because I still have the excellent manual, box and postcards, but still...

Will still probably pick it up off GOG eventually.

Zykar: GOG, you've done it again! Been waiting for a chance to buy this great game, i think i got that chance now. Thank you!

Fred_DM: the game's been available on every digital distribution site since February...
Yes, but i can't buy all the games that come out... not everyone can afford to buy all the games when they come out. Also as it was said here previously games here are the same price as in the united states, meaning no crappy dollar to euro conversion, which is another thing to look forward to. Another thing is, if the game is cheaper here maybe the other distributors aren't the ones making it work. I doubt gog would sell games like that. Besides, there was this strange thing going on, i think it was nearly after the release... the game was at about 21 dollars and then it went to 27 or something, because i think they added some content to the release, i don't really know though. But something definitely happened there and it wasn't the release discount.
Nice! Bough without hesitation despite a huge games backlog.
This game. At this price. The best GOG's "new game" release so far! Apart from The Witcher 2 EE OFC ;)

kavazovangel: Because those that already wanted the game for that price, they got it.

Spare me the "but this one is DRM-free" crap.

Truck: This one is DRM free, the others don't matter, and your argument is invalid.
Okay.
Wow, great release.
Nice job GOG / Remedy. Must buy 8)

Catshade: ...
There's this amazing concept called 'price drop'. GOG has done it several times before.
Not often enough. But then there is also this amazing concept called inflation which also helps..
high rated
All you retards complaining about the price: Look at the goddamn release date! It's less than 6 months old! Steam has it for 30 bucks, Amazon has it for 35 bucks!

The PC release didn't come out till early 2012 people. Yes the Xbox version came out in 2010 but The PC version is not some crummy port. Look at what metacritic has to say about it.

You self entitled bastards make me sick! I will admit seeing GOG charge 20 bucks for games over 2 years old does make my eye twitch a little, but it still more than reasonable. Don't even get me started on the shit that happened over Legend of Grimlock.

As whole GOG is expanding it's market. They are still bringing in older games, but they are also looking to bring in new material as well.

Fred_DM: true, but that's not how things work, is it? otherwise Steam, GamersGate and everyone else that's been offering the game since February would have to reduce the price as well.

we get discounts instead, and i bet it'll be 75% off on Steam during the Summer Sale...
So you will wait for Steam summer sale to buy this game 5$ cheaper and without additional content that you have here for free and on steam you have to pay 10 euro for it. Nice deal. ;)

I for one will be thinking twice before I buy any game now. I have a backlog of games, so I would rather wait to get it here DRM free instead of any other way with DRM. Sure I would love every game to be $9.99 or less, but that is not reasonable. As long as the price isn't higher here than the current average selling price, I'm not going to complain. From now on, I'm only buying retail when there is a physical edition I don't want to be without, like Mass Effect 2 & 3 Collector's Editions, and retail Witcher 1 & 2. And I also own the GOG versions of both Witchers.

I hope to finally play the many games that I want to play, but refused to buy because of DRM. GOG, show me Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Mirror's Edge, Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City....

So glad I didn't get this on Steam now, bought!
I'm SO getting this if I remember later. I was very disappointed when they announced the PC version and I learned that it would use Steam as DRM. The only thing I really like about Steam are its sales.

Wow, what an a-hole! I was really looking forward to this game and haven't realised it was available anywhere else at such a small price. I was very suprised both by the release on GOG and by the price. I have instantly bought this. And I got it DRM free, mwahahahahaha!

I really enjoyed Legend of Grimrock. I actually own it through GOG and the Humble Store. I wanted to support GOG having such a great new release here, and once I saw Grimrock was getting a DRM version directly from the publisher, I purchased from them directly to support that move also.
