Part survival horror, part detective novel, part action, and part adventure--a must-have for fans of exciting thrillers and sublime story-telling.

Alan Wake, the psychological action thriller, is available now on GOG.com--and it’s on sale for 50% off for a week! That’s only $14.99 for the game and both DLCs until Tuesday, May 15th at 21.59 GMT.

From Remedy, developers of classic Death Rally and Max Payne 1 & 2, comes a third-person shooter described by its creators as combination of "the mind of a psychological thriller,” and "the body of a cinematic action game.” The player controls Alan Wake, author of popular detective fiction, who needs to find his wife in a perfect and fictional--yet nightmarish and dreadfully real--town of Bright Falls. The story is told in episodes in style similar to a mystery TV series, with each episode having its own plot but revealing new piece of the main puzzle as well. The story is filled with endless twists and cliffhangers, there are recap sequences at the beginning of a new episode, closing credits, and a lot of cinematic sequences--all of these combine to create a fantastic “film noir” atmosphere, unique to the world of PC horror games. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King will find numerous references and inspirations while solving the mystery behind supernatural horrors that infest Bright Falls.

Mr. Wake will walk the streets, find clues, and talk to people during the day; he will fight various enemies during the night. Light is the main weapon in Alan’s fight against the town’s inhabitants who have been possessed by a darkness that transforms them into axe wielding murderers. Enemies are initially impervious to attack, and can only be harmed when exposed to light, coming from your flashlight, flare guns, flares, and environmental sources. Even if you’re not afraid of the dark, the game will keep you on your toes, and once the darkness creeps in you will not want to leave your safely lit havens.

Gripping suspense, intense action, great thriller storytelling, flawless design--yes, Alan Wake is a perfect game. Time magazine named it the best video game of the year, IGN awarded Alan Wake “Best Horror Game”, it has also received numerous nominations for “Best Narrative”, “Best Writing/Story”, and “Best Character” (for Alan Wake).

Grab Alan Wake for the next seven days for only $14.99--and get with the manual, wallpaper, and a number of videos and extra goodies (stay tuned for more extras soon) all for one great price! Expect other great games from Remedy coming in the very near future!

kavazovangel: Because those that already wanted the game for that price, they got it.
true, but that's not how things work, is it? otherwise Steam, GamersGate and everyone else that's been offering the game since February would have to reduce the price as well.

we get discounts instead, and i bet it'll be 75% off on Steam during the Summer Sale...

SirPrimalform: I'm fine with $30, the PC port only came out this year remember. There's no way they'd persuade anyone to sell it at $10, which would mean they'd have to exclude it.
This is what i'm scared of though

'sorry 9.99 doesn't cut it anymore here 14.99'

Ok I have no problems with this!

'sorry 14.99 doesn't cut it any more here have 19.99'

Ok I have no Problems with this!

'sorry about 19.99, here's 29.99'

Ok I have no Problems with this

sorry here's 49.99

oh man how'd this happen?
Unexpected and awesome release. I waiting American Nightmare too GOG:)

maybe so, but it's also obvious that newer games have to cost more than 20 year olds. why would Remedy want to sell Alan Wake for less than $30 on GOG while selling it for $30 everywhere else?

if you're into the whole DRM-free cult then consider that a bonus and added value.

Wow popular topic / game. Has been on my mental wishlist for a while. Bought come pay day. I'm generally not one to pay more than around the 20-$25 mark however on special for less no problem.

Now if I had enough time to play games. I have a surplus of 104 hours I have worked at work that I won't get paid for and I don't have time to take before it gets lost in a month or so. Wish I could barter with it :)
AWESOME ! I just completed the Alan Wake and I'm reading Alan Wake Files book right now. And I was thinking like one or two days ago how great it would be, if GOG would release AW. And it's here ! Really unexpected, and only 15$ with all those extras?
That's price for which Activision / EA sold their shitty DLCs.

Perfect job GOG and Remedy !

I had this game in PC retail Collector's Edition already, but for this price there is no reason to resist and not buy this awesome game in DRM free version. Thanks a lot! :) .

There's this amazing concept called 'price drop'. GOG has done it several times before.

I'll mention an argument I made when we first got the $20 games. People here are thinking that publishers are restricted by what price tiers GOG allows, but what really restricts them is what the market will bear. If for some reason GOG had a $1000 price point, no publisher would use it because no one would buy it. All that defined price points on GOG do is determine whether or not a publisher will release their game here or not.
I now wish I could give away my Steam copy..

It seems I won't be able to afford a "Give away all Finnish games on GOG" giveaway on Independence Day anymore :p
Good deal for those who haven't gotten it yet, I would definitely prefer the GOG version.

You realize GOG has had a $40+ dollar game for over a year now?
Always wanted this game on PC, don't own any consoles, I'll buy it now

cheesetruncheon: ...
Yeah, but any hypothetical $49.99 game is one that wouldn't otherwise have come here if we were still limited to $9.99.

Spare me the "but this one is DRM-free" crap.
This one is DRM free, the others don't matter, and your argument is invalid.
Great game...not sure my humble system will allow it though. Cool one to pull out of the bagt hough GOG. :)
