A post-crime story.

1954 Alcatraz, a Daedalic Entertainment prison break adventure where treachery meets love and morals clash with greed, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $17.99 for the first week.

Joe's doing 40 years on Alcatraz for a heist on an armored truck. The loot is still hidden out there, but only Joe knows where it is. In the streets of San Francisco, Joe's ex-accomplices and his wife are eager to find the stolen money. Who will get their hands on the dough? Players will decide between love, treachery, life and death: will Joe's wife, Christine assist her husband during his prison break? Will they recover the fortune together? Or will they succumb to greed? Will Christine deceive Joe, taking revenge for all the disappointments and a marriage that brought her nothing but hardship? Will she just turn her back on Joe and hit the road with his former accomplices? Or will Joe gain everything in the end?

1954 Alcatraz, offers all what makes a great adventure: challenging puzzles, a mature crime story with a dynamic plot and various possible outcomes, and a whole bunch of shady characters: brutal felons, making life on The Rock even harder for Joe, while outside not only his partners-in-crime but also snoops and cops are after the money and Christine. The cinematic San Francisco of the 1950s, caught in a gritty comic style is a harsh place. But it's also a place where 1954: Alcatraz can pay homage to history and zeitgeist, in form of the Beatnik culture and other contemporary themes.

If you're looking for immersive plot and an envolving story with multiple endings you should check out 1954 Alcatraz, for only $17.99 on GOG.com. The 10% off release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, March 18, at 10:59AM GMT.

Yep. I mean, it's the greatest Alcatraz-ish movie ever :P

Fantastic release! Thanks GOG, well done Daedalic!

JinseiNGC224: I haven't looked into Torchlight 2 much...didn't know it was all Steamworks ;(
You also can buy Torchlight 2 directly from Runic, the developer. The Runic version is without Steam. You will need a Runic account if you wish to use the online multiplayer, but you can play LAN or singleplayer without account or internet.

That's good to know. But I just wonder why Runic hasn't sold it DRM-free yet?

tburger: Hardware requirements for new Deadalic adventures are just killing me...3GB of RAM ...sigh :-(
avatar
Niggles: Why on earth would an adventure game use (or even require) 3GB ram ?
Maybe there is a reason for that, dunno. It's just adventure games were among those least demanding and I didn't feel my rig is THAT old..Now DANG! 2+ GB RAM, 512 MB on videocard to play say Chains of Satinav.
Nice release, wishlisted for now!

lotsa cool tunes, probably and excellent voiceover, detailed as hell...
damn I'm quite interested on this one!

Crosmando: Anyway tbh I kinda hope Daedalic starts making more RPG's instead of adventure games, Blackguards so far is very good, more please!
Blackguards caught my eye for the first time I saw it.
Is it related to the Dark Eye series in some way?

Well, Blackguards is based on DarkEye-Series World and Ruleset; as well as those "Realms of Arcania"-Titels or the first two Drakensang-Games. Chains of Satinav, Memoria and that Kalypso-Game, Demonicon, are just using the setting without using the ruleset!
Looks like fun! Might have to push this to the top of my backlog.
Looks a bit like a Telltale game... anyone played it yet?

Crosmando: For some reason whenever I think of Alcatraz I think of that action movie with the rockets full of green balls...
You should definitely watch this:

and this:

After that, you'll think of good movies, whenever you'll think of Alcatraz! ;o)
Daedalic is going 3d now (aside from Roach)? Not sure how to feel about that, always liked their 2D art, especially in Deponia series.

What they're doing with The Whispered World 2 looks pretty killer though.
