Reviving this thread so that I don't open a new one.
In Central European time, Thursday's over, at least workhours-wise. That means no new game today.
And that means yet an other week with only one game (HOMM3). A fantastic one, but nevertheless one game. I'm sure the GOG staff has its reasons for not publishing anything today, and I'd be eager to know them, but even if they decide not to share them with us, that's not a big deal.
I know we shouldn't take the 2 games/week dose for granted, but I (and I know there are quite a few people with me in this) consider Tuesdays and Thursdays special days, knowing they are game-adding games on GOG, and waiting with anticpation that maybe it'll be something that interests me. This is why I'm somewhat disappointed to see today pass by without a new release.
After all this, to the point. What I'd like to ask the staff is...
If you know in advance that you won't be able to add a new game on a ceratin day, please let us know. I don't expect an announcement on the front page (let's reserve that for the more positive news ;-)), but I'd like to see a staff member make a thread about it in the General discussions. That way, we'd know we shouldn't expect a new release on that particular day.
Is this possible?
Tuesdays are the only official "game adding day" on GOG. Thursdays are just the day that coming soon announcements are usually made. Granted, there have occasionally been "surprise releases" announced on Thursdays, but that does not mean that you should have expected one today or any other Thursday. When a Tuesday goes by without a new game, then you might have reason to be upset or concerned, but a Thursday... not so much.

It USED TO be so, but look around the news section for the last couple of months. For some time, it has been so that they added one game Tuesday and one on Tursday.
Also, when it was like you stated, it was ALWAYS two games on Tuesday.

GOG never promised anyone anything other than a new release every Tuesday. The actual number of games released on Tuesdays was not promised (or consistent... sometimes one, sometimes two, sometimes more) and any releases on days other than Tuesdays are just extra gravy.
The fact that they have had enough games in the pipe to produce both Tuesday and Thursday releases throughout July and most of August did not change that original promise. The only thing that changed was your expectations. As long as GOG continues to release new games on Tuesdays, they are meeting any expectations you should have.

YOU may think so, but I know I'm not alone who's always looking towards new releases, may they come any day, and I'd REALLY appreciate if they let us know how many games to expect.
And before you say "they can't know that for sure", I wrote "If you know in advance" intentionally.
As you will recall, they did not release a new title last Tuesday. However, they sure made up for it with an explosive Thursday.

Indeed, and not only was that an "explosive" Thursday, they gave 2 games.
Every time in the past when they gave one game, they had serious reasons to do so.
Which brings us back to the original purpose of Thursdays on GOG: the "coming soon" announcement. If anything, you should not be concerned so much by the lack of a release, but by the utter lack of any announcements at all. I can only think they must have something big planned for the weekend. GOG has not let us down before, there is no reason to expect it now.

That's the other thing that USED TO worry me, but I imagine they gave up on "Coming soon" announcements after the Earth 2160 fiasco, so I don't expcet any such announcements anymore.
What was the Earth 2160 fiasco?

They had some serious issues with the game, and because of that, the game sat for some 3 months in the Upcoming section, its relese status being "coming soon".

And the first Heroes of Might and Magic... Such cases make me think they decided to let "coming soon" announcements go and only post them when they are 100% sure they can deliver the games in a couple of weeks.

Probably because some of the natives get restless and the pitchfork-and-torch-angry-mob stores start seeing an increase in business...

lowyhong: You guys should be glad they're not releasing anything new. With the latest strategy promo, my bills are up to my neck already

Oh, the joy of having a job, but nothing of importance to use the money on.
