LOAF of the Wing Commander CIC has looked into why the EA releases on GOG lack expansions. Perhaps this will answer why they are not here.

Well, Mr. Gog does have to stay well within the law in order to keep getting new games and to prevent publishers from leaving.

But OTOH, lollollollololol. Perhaps people can stop badmouthing EA and recognize that it might not be part of a shadow conspiracy by the Illuminuti.

Yeah... but you'd think if this was the case, GOG would have gone "So, can we licence those expansions any time soon?" and EA would have gone "Don't you already have them?".

That'd be a strange definition of 'While we are (of course) working on them', since it should kind of require only a single phone call / email. Even a 'snail mail' should have gotten a response considering when the first uproar on 'no add on' occurred ;) I'm going to wait and see what happens, since we don't know how reliable and well informed that 'source' was, but if that really was the case, it would indeed be quite shocking.

To be honest, it wouldn't be surprising, large corporations can be somewhat byzantine at times. Also, often times the individuals signing the contracts are doing so based largely in part on the approval of the lawyers and if the negotiation team wasn't specifically asked, something like this can happen.

I remember the union contract at a previous job pretty much required that you be on the team to understand what any of it meant.

It's more likely the legal document doesn't mention the expansions but EA just didn't mention them explicitly then when it came up it was a case of.

On that note, it might be reliable, but maybe the source simply wasn't informed on all the details of the deal and simply assumed?
Here's hoping... I don't want to have my image of GOG destroyed just yet...
Then again, if that proves true, I'm sure that we're going to see many a 'make sure that you double and triple checked if you can't include ...' postings (and maybe even rightfully so in such a case). I'd sure get one posted of the German version of Realms of Arcania :p

Nah, it would not be shocking, it would be pleasant, since it would mean that the expansions are all going to be added soon and that the guys from EA aren't as bad as some claim they are and that the guys at GOG are actually human, not demigods, or that they at least don't do anything to jeopardize what they have accomplished, so we can expect GOG to stay in the market for a long time. Sound like good news for everyone, if it's true.

This message makes no sense and completely depends on what "a source" from EA said. Two citations in the message show that there is a legal issue. I also remember an official posting after the Alpha Centauri release that there is a problem and they try to fix it. It would be very helpful to know who "the source" from EA is.
