tinyE: On a side note, grimwerk has just been named the new Press Secretary for GOG.

Melhelix: I'd read his press releases. And interviews. :D

grimwerk: It's pretty fucking standard customer fucking service practice. When you report a fucking issue, or make a fucking request, it typically won't be handled tout de fucking suite. So the fucking system logs your fucking entry and gives you a fucking reference number called a fucking ticket number. Fucking GOG has pretty fucking reasonable support, so you should be in good fucking hands. They will get back to you fucking soon. If you need to refer to your issue in the fucking future, you can make use of your fucking ticket number.
That was the best explanation I've ever seen. Grimwerk for president!

Edit: Don't you love it when a new user already has rep in the minuses

That was the most awesome saturation F-bombing I've ever seen.
Did you get a fucking reply yet?

jballa: What the fuck does the ticket number mean when i get an email back from GOG
I think GOG gives users these "tickets" for behaving badly in the forums, e.g. trolling or foul language. After you have three tickets, you are out.

I feel at this point that maybe I should offer a bit of explanation on behalf of the GOG community, just so you don't get the wrong idea. No, this is not the reaction most new members receive. No, this forum is not populated exclusively by aggressive and hostile elitist pricks. No, not even any of the people who have posted in this thread are usually this flippant to anyone.

The problem here is that you chose, as your very first post, to ask a stupid question (I'm sorry, but it was) in a very aggressive manner, without giving any information whatsoever about what your real problem is. The text of your post was also not related in any way to your thread title. Basically, you made it impossible for anyone to help you with the actual grievance you had. This community is the most helpful I've ever seen, but when people just insist on having a problem and bitching about it, with no interest in actually doing anything about it, this does not go over well here.

Maybe if you tried to calm down and tell us what the problem you are having actually is, people could give you some more constructive replies than you've received so far. GOG.com is a great distributor and truly cares about its customers, and the GOG community is generally the most helpful, generous and well-behaved I've ever seen. If you ask for help here, you will usually get it, but you do need to tell people your problem in order for that to happen.

I think that this should be used as an official FAQ answer.
It just occurred to me that the OP doesn't seem to have been back since grimwerk posted his answer which means not only was the post funny, it was effective and it got the job done. Bravo!

You have suspiciously high rep these days. Who have you bribed?

No one :P but I wanted to second Wishbone's post. I have little regard for anyone who post a complaint the way the OP did, but the thought that our replies could give other people the impression that we are all unsympathetic assholes kind of worries me. One of the reasons I love this place so much is that whenever I have a problem, even a really stupid one, everyone is so quick to help me out with it. I REALLY don't want that to get lost in all of this.

Exactly. That's why I felt the need to clarify the reaction the OP received.

You're assuming we're dealing with a person who can't write but can read ;P. People who could benefit from your explanation would chiefly be ones who would never have thrown such a fit in the first place... or even if they did - they'd immediately understand the reaction afterwards.
