Well, I don't have an HDTV so perhaps the true nature of the graphics wasn't as apparent to me.

Man, I'd love to see Red Dead Redemption to get a PC port - as long as Rockstar ports it well and keeps patching the hell out of it.
At least Rockstar been patching the heck out of GTA4 PC and it runs MUCH better than it did before...

I'm also hoping that kidnapping & hogtying women can be done anywhere rather than being part of a mission. It'd be a fun challenge to try and capture every woman in a town and keep them in a room, must collect them all...

Now I haven't been into this game that much, but how does it work? Is it like GTA where you can only go around in predetermined zones at the start?

Nope, the whole game is open from the start. 3 regions, a desert, a forest and a snowy mountain range. Each one is as big as liberty city. 2x as big as san andreas i believe.

Yea, the multiplayer and pre order codes and social club are all acting up because of the release. I was running around with an invisible revolver :P
Also, I saw a man carrying this woman away and she was screaming for help. So I got on my horse and went to rescue the damsel in distress. Suddenly , I realized that I was going WAY too fast and slammed right into them both, sending them flying, and killing them. LOL
And I LOVE the random encounters. It reminds me of Fallout 1 again. I was walking in the middle of nowhere and some asian guy came out of a bush, walked up to a cactus on the side of the road and started taking a piss. I was like "LOLWUT?" And shot him in the face. Great ragdoll physics by the way. I like standing on saloons and sniping fools down below just to see a new awesome death animation. I also like shooting guys off of cliffs and horses. Oh do they fall.

Well JB HiFi broke the street date so I have it a day early. So far its pretty damned awesome. The controls feel a little sluggish and horse riding is a tad unintuitive but I'm definitely enjoying it.
I got challenged to a duel and manage to stylishly disarm the guy who promptly ran away, apparently its not considered honourable to shoot him in the back twice as he flees.
Cougars (as in cats, not horny 40 year old women after younger men) are pretty damned lethal and bloody fast, they only seem to hit you 3 times before you're dead

Yea... I hadn't even heard of this game until about 2 days ago, then suddenly its popping up everywhere. Probably going to get this once the price drops to like ~30-40, looks like fun. Open world western style is something not done enough.

I am very tempted to not buy anything else next month (extra food, potential new graphics card, etc) just to get this game (PS3 probably as I want to play online and I don't have xbox live gold account).
Is it going to be released on the PC? Probably, soon? I don't know. I might not be alive next year (you never know), so I am soooo tempted to buy this game. It looks (graphics and gameplay) FRAKING AWESOME.
