If you like Eador and KB, you might like Spellforce games, Heroes of Might and Magic series, and Disciples series. On steam there's Warlock Master of the Arcane and Fallen Enchantress (get Legendary Heroes one).

Since you like Populous and Eador, you might like Master of Magic and Lords of Magic.

If you haven't played all the KB games (there's like 4+ of them now), I think you might like to play those.

If you like the whole King's Bounty concept, i.e. fantasy TBS, then I would like to suggest Disciples 2. (the screenshots on the gog page for some reason are a little off - the quality is much better ingame)
It's a fantasy TBS, just like King's Bounty, except with deceptively simpler combat mechanics and a completely different overall vibe. The big plusses of the game are : incredibly gripping dark fantasy atmosphere brought to life by a unique, striking and superbly detailed art style and a deliciously eerie musical soundtrack. There is a sizable collection of units in the game, for each of the factions : Empire (humans), Mountain Clans (dwarves), Legions of the Damned (demons), Undead Hordes, Elves and Neutral mobs. Have a look at some of the screenshots to see how detailed these units are, and note, they are fully animated ingame!

Welcome to the GOG forums!
I warmly recommend you Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri!
It is IMO the best 4X game GOG has to offer - and there are plenty of good ones, here.
Consider it like a "Civilization in space" kind of game, with loads of new techonlogies (all developed from real scientific theories, so that it does seem as realistic as possible), units, conditions of victory and factions.
That game is so incredibly well made, reactive and complex... it could hook you for months!
Also, you could be interested in Master of Orion. Two great games for only 5,99$!
Edit: I admit I am a bit biased towards these games... I always thought galactic empires are the pinnacle of awesomeness, so a game that allows the player to create one is just a must-buy for me! :)

Those are some of my favorite games too. Have you tried any of the Age of Wonders games?
Expeditions Conquistador is also fun. Heroes of Might and Magic of course.

Master of Orion 2 is the best 4X game ever, so that should be your next purchase if you don't have it already. HoMM 3 and Disciples 2 are great for TBS . King of Dragon Pass is a mixture of TBS, management and Adventure game, and it's text-driven. Also, give Sacrifice a shot too, it's an Action/RTS with unique gameplay, you'll love it .

No just no. Disciples is probably one of the worst options I've played. It's horribly frustrating to have to play the levels in the right order or be punished severely for it.

I'd suggest something more like HOMM2 or 3 it's probably more similar to King's Bounty and both games are quite fun.

It takes all kinds to make the world ;)

I'm not sure what you're talking about though : For each of the campaigns, you finish a level, select the hero and 5 items you want to take to the next level and then start with said next level... (unless perhaps you are referring to the first one, which I have not played. Or perhaps you somehow attempted to play the campaign from the scenario screen)

I thought it was the second one, but perhaps I should give it a second try. I did like it, I just found it infuriating that I could get into a position where I couldn't win.
