Im looking for something else in the turnbased tactics game area. Ive played fallout 1, 2, and tactics, arcanum, temple of elemental evil, and almost all the spiderweb software games, all of which are very tactic based. I need something new.

I like the game heroes of might and magic 4, theres just one problem your heroes dont carry over. The only game that would have struck me as amazing (even though it already is cool) was warlords battlecry 3. That game is fun, but i cant do the realtime.

Are there any more turnbased tactical rpgs left on gog?
Jagged Alliance 2 comes to mind immediately.
Shining Force 1 and 2 are some of the best turn based games around and happen to have official emulated versions you can get through Gamersgate with no DRM. Can't go wrong for $3.
How about a nice friendly game of Chess?
There is Gorky 17. It has iffy compatibility though, so you should look into that before deciding.
Well, X-Com obviously. Still the best out there.

The Silent Storm series was also a very good tactical game (but you have to mod out the later "gameplay killer").

I tried jagged alliance but the game was too slow. It takes an hour to defeat 5 enemies. Its a great tactical game, but i dont have that kind of time on my hands.
Gorky 17 seems like an interesting game. Is it like jagged alliance ? Its skills and stuff look similar.

I'm not really an expert on the genre, but XCOM's turn-based portion is freakin' fantastic, and incredibly tense.
I do not know Jagged Alliance, but I also recommend Gorky 17. The game is also not too long to finish (so that if you do not have too many hours to spend on gaming, this game is a good choice).
It looks pretty cool and the overhead view is nice. When do you think that gog will get it? Im surprised i never gave xcom a shot. I always thought it was a fps.

Will take your advice

Please be aware that while I have no problems with Gorky 17 other than the crash during the skippable opening FMV (that you can view using VideoLAN Media Player outside the game) and another crash during a totally optional battle towards the end of the game, your mileage may vary. As suggested above, please read the Gorky 17 sub forum first before you make your purchase. For what its worth, I still recommend the game though.

I found xcom's bundle on steam. Its fairly cheap. Im probably going to get it after i look it up a bit more. Thanks for everyone's advice.

Fuck it, i might as well get both the first xcom and gorky as well, lol.

You might wanna check out UFO Extraterrestrial Gold. It's selling for 2.50 in the US on Steam.

It's basically a shinier X-Com, but it's fun.

XCOM and JA2, of course. Also check out Fantasy Wars, it's a little lighter fare than those other two - think Battle for Wesnoth without the spiteful difficulty scaling that pops up in Wesnoth from time to time - but is still pretty good fun. It's fairly forgiving for newcomers but if you like to max out your exploration and levelling it can take some real strategy.

The sequel to it, Elven Legacy (and the three expansions), is on Impulse for sure and I assume Steam as well, since Steam has everything.

Oh, and if the graphics don't make your eyes bleed and you can forgive a ruleset that sometimes hews a little *too* close to realism, the Realms of Arkania series is some serious tactical fantasy RPG.

And Master of Magic/Master of Orion, obviously. If you haven't played those you're missing out on some of the all-time bests.

As weird as it sounds, Gorky 17 can best be descibed as "tactical Resident Evil". It plays much more like a survival shooter than your average tactical game. Limited ammo e.g.

It still is a good game, though.
