My budget's about 80, preferably less. Any good models out there? Brand-wise, I've heard good things about Sennheiser in particular.
Sennheiser's a damn good brand but they're on the high side of prices (do they have a cheaper version? Dunno) but I like these.
AKG-272S
AKG-271S (older model, cheaper)
I recommend you NOT get Razer brand headphones. I spent about $80 on a pair and the mic broke in about 2 months and the headphones were never that good sound quality wise either.
I currently use a Microsoft pair of all things... plan to get some better ones soon.
I tried running a small studio out of my room for a while and these were the best headphones that I thought money could buy. A little bit more than your price range, but I think they're well worth it. Depends if you want mic support or not.
For about $80 you should be able to get the Sennheiser HD555 High End. It's sort of a "low high-end" headset that still has a lot of the sound clarity you get from a true high-end headset, and it's won several awards. For example it was selected as the best headset of the year by the largest norwegian hi-fi magazine.
One advice, forget 7.1 or 5.1, try to get some quality stereo ones. ;)
Anything with AIWA in the brand name. Seriously, that company makes some killer 'phones. Not sure if they make headphones with mics attached.
Very happy with my old Sennheiser HD590s, but those were an upgrade from a set of HD570s that I didn't like and quickly returned (tried to save money but it wasn't worth it to my ears). I guess I'm saying that not all products from that brand will sound good to all people, so try before you buy if possible.
Do you need a mic, too, or just straight-up headphones?
I got Sennheiser's HD 201 for 89PLN which is about 30 bucks, but that was 5 years ago, so the model may not be produced anymore. They pump the bass a bit, and don't keep the sound to themselves too much. But they are comfortable, reliable, sound good enough and are still in one piece.. Fell to the ground a zillion times etc. ;)
Great hp's! :)
Thanks for all the recommendations everyone. I've taken them down and will be going shopping tomorrow 8)
Beer: only need the headphones.

These are amazing..sooo comfortable. It's like you're not even wearing them..I've done it for almost an entire day and there's only minor discomfort after many hours. Great quality too. I got them on sale at Newegg for $60..they're out of stock now though. Might be able to get em somewhere else for cheapish.
I've been going through various pairs for yeaaaars and these are the first I know I'll be keeping for a looong time. :) Worth the extra dough.

These are more or less re-branded Denon D1001s. They should be very good. I have the Denons and they're great. Quite leaky though

Good to know. :) These leak a bit, pretty reasonable though.
Well like I told you, my Sennheiser headset that I bought in 2003 is still working beautifully now even after much accidental abuse.
