Also if you own a NDS go get Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective that came earlier than Soul Suspects.
Murdered is gonna be on PC too and it's far from release.

How about <span class="bold">Discworld Noir</span>? (Would love to play it myself if only I could buy it somewhere, hoping it shows up on GOG)

Well, I've seen many great suggestions in the previous posts.
So I'll try to recommend some games that haven't been mentioned yet.
3 of these games old FMV adventure games, and none of them is being sold on GoG (at least not yet), but I believe it's worth to look for them. The other one is a recent release and I believe it perfectly fits in your requirements.

1- Black Dahlia
The only problem with this one is that it has two or three puzzles that are absurdly difficult. But, besides that, it's a great game in my opinion.

2- The X-files
Great game! In my opinion, highly underrated.

3- Rippper
Great game with 4 different endings.

4- Face Noir
This one was released a couple of months ago. Had a great time playing it, and it has a nice plot.

He can always pick up Ghost Trick before that.

Ok, maybe I exaggerated by saying this is great, but I don't think it's a bad game.
I've played it 5 or 6 years ago and, for what a remember, I had a good time playing it. The story has its flaws and somethings don't make much sense, but it caught my attention until the end of the game.

Any Sherlock Holmes game? I liked the Awakening, but there are plenty more as well ofcourse.

You might be interested in "Rise of the Dragon" as well, i think it needs emulator though.
