Evening all, well here's the thing I get paid on Friday and i need to buy myself a new game, preferably a old classic you can find here on GOG.com. Can any of you intelligent and dashing young men and women recommend me a game that can keep my interest for a while. Types of games i love to play are point and click adventures, RPG's and FPS

Since we don't know what you already played, it is kind of difficult.
Of course, the first and foremost recommendation has to be Fallout, but I guess you have played it..
The second recommendation from me would be Gothic.

Broken Sword 2. That is one of, if not the, best adventure games I've ever played. At 5.99, it's a steal.

Gothic is a third person RPG with amazing world and atmosphere.

Gothic is a third-person RPG where you , the player, are in a prison colony. In order to survive in this world you have to join a faction which will teach you various skills required to survive. It is a game with mature content that doesn't involve moments of "BOOBS!". It is an adult fantasy game because it does not involve some teenager with a metric ton of wangst. If you're looking for a challenging well-written game then look no further than Gothic.

Also, another one called Starship Titanic, written by Douglas Adams.

I so hope Starship Titanic comes to GOG. I've never played it, but I've read the novel a number of times. Hilarious.
As far as game recommendations go, let me point you towards two complete gems. Both are so different, so unique, and so great that you really shouldn't give them a miss.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
and
Sacrifice
Giants is a... Well, it's hard to describe. It starts as an objective-based third person shooter, moves into the realm of squad-based shooters (sort of), and moves further into base-building and more strategic gameplay. And it's friggin' hilarious! The game has a humor that is absolutely exceptional. Look at some YouTube videos of it.
Sacrifice is equally hard to place. I suppose you'd have to call it a Third Person RTS. It too has a quite phenomenal sense of humor, and some fantastic voice acting. Tim Curry as Stratos is magnificent. The game revolves around combat, utilizing a combination of summoned creatures and magic spells. As a mage for hire, you fight each battle for one of five gods, all with different spells and creatures. A whole game is 10 missions, but thanks to the interchangeability of the five gods, the game has a lot of replay value.

Another vote for Giants... the texturing looks a bit strange in places by today's standards, but the character animations (and their talk) are spot on. The gameplay is maybe more interesting than the creators imagined as this is basically an open-world game, without open-world gameplay. You are always supposed to do one specific thing in one specific place... in theory. In practice, you can use whatever means and ways you can up with, no matter if were intended for that purpose.
As far as adventures go, I'll have to say that Broken Sword2 is definitely the best one you can find on GoG right now, followed by Simon the Sorcerer 2.

Decided to go with Beneath a steel sky, cant believe a game like this is free. think ill buy both Giants and Gothic on friday once payday come's around. thanks for the help guys realy appreciate it : )

I played through Gothic about two weeks ago. Very solid game, the controls are a bit funky but once you get used to them I didn't even notice it anymore (there are some threads in the Gothic forum on them if you need help).

I'd vote for Operation Flashpoint, excellent 1st person modern infantry simulator game that lasts for ages with the main game & 2 expansions & has bucketloads of user made addons when you finally get through everything else
