That's right... fishing games...

I remember playing one obsessively when I was a kid, I think it was called BASS TOUR, it was an overhead fishing sim on DOS if I remember correctly. There was a surprising amount of depth and strategy and it was very addicting trying to find a monster and setting new records.

Would like to see this on GOG someday, but nobody likes a good fishing sim :(

The highest rated fishing game on GG is Open Sea Fishing, if that helps.

I used to love them, then I moved and now I don't need them. I think it takes a special kind to appreciate fishing be it virtual or real; you have to want to do it for the endeavor, not the reward, and a lot of folks don't get that.

It was a Flash game with some interesting/ridiculous physics. I think it was hosted on a couple of websites in the early 2000s, but it seems I can't track any of them down.

Alas, not a porn game, but it does sound very vaguely double entendre-ish now that you mention it - it means "Moominpappa fishing", for non-natives. Ice-fishing would have made it funnier still; Moominpappa Pimplar, anyone?

Apparently this is one of the best fishing games of all time. I'm looking for more of a "fishing simulation" rather than a more arcade experience like Sega Bass Fishing. The more realistic, the better.
