XCOM is honestly closer to Shadowrun Returns than any "RPG." Whether SRR is an RPG or not largely depends on your definition of the genre.

Anyway... the new XCOM, if you haven't played it yet. Final Fantasy Tactics is another.
If you´d like to have something in 3D, I´d recommend Wizardry VIII.
If not, the AD&Ds on GOG are pretty good; and there are of cause many strategy-rpg-crossover-titles, like Heroes or Eador!
Havent played many but Wizardry 8 stands out.
Alright, luckily I got some bonus saved up so, here's what I've bought :
1. Fallout Series
2. Heroes Series
3. Avernum Series
4. Arcanum
5. Disciples 2
6. Eschalon Series
7. Geneforge Series
8. King's Bounty Series
9. Silent Storm
10. Jagged Alliance Series
11. Space Rangers 2
12. Sword of the Stars The Pit
13. Temple of Elemental Evil

I think I'm going to pass on Wizardy Series, the first person perspective can be confusing at times... And (looking up) I'm going to spend a lot of time on these...

teshra: You know I don't see a "c" in the OP so make your narrow defined rpg recommendations and have a good day.
Dude, it's not about the "c". His post was about TURNED BASED (as he wrote it in capitals).

Thank you, have a good day, too!

Mentao: Sorry, but I must ask: what is Dwarf Fortress?
No worries! I'm happy to answer questions about it.

Short answer: Dwarf Fortress is an amazing city builder / simulation / rogue-like, with the worst UI I have ever done battle with. It is glorious and joyful and also rage-inducing in its original state. There are many, many community tools that make it actually very fun to play - it's technically in 'alpha', but has fewer bugs than some full game's full releases and the developer is very mod-friendly. It uses random generators and very complex AI, so the stories of many player forts are as-or-more complex when compared to regular video game plots.

It's like a combination of Majesty, Sim City and Cthulu.

That's why I use it for this test. I haven't run into another game that was even a quarter as complex as Dwarf Fortress, so if trying to play GameA is even a quarter as frustrating, I might as well be playing DF. So then I stop playing GameA and move onto something else.
