SWAT 3

Unlike most FPS games, this one is more about saving lives than it is about killing. Your goal is to arrest suspects, and shooting at anything that moves will likely end in failure. For that reason alone, it's one of the most intense and challenging shooters I've ever played. If you want to play a truly unique shooter, then SWAT 3 is your best bet.
My recommendation is Rollercoaster Tycoon.

This is a game that stands the test of time on quality and not just on nostalgia and on GOG it includes 2 extensive expansions which can easily give you over 40 hours playtime, and if you like your park you can always carry it on after winning or failing the win parameters of the level. Also the expansions mix it up a little... Corkscrew Follies is more dififcult than the vanilla levels and makes you feel an amateur again and Loopy Landscapes makes the game feel a bit more theme park whilst retaining the mechanics.

The levels are varied, especially in the expansions and there's a wealth of options for the simoholic hidden beneath it's 2D interior. Even though it has a fairly complex simulation system beneath it, it's not a necessity for winning. Those that do like sims though, will feel right at home juggling pricing, managing staff or analyzing the physics of a rollercoaster they've built to gradually bring it to that sweet spot that gets the most custom.

Graphically the game wisely chose an isometric 2D view which means that the game doesn't suffer from an early 3D engine that hasn't aged well. The resolution only goes up to 1024x768 but it looks tidy and it stretches onto bigger screens quite nicely. None of the GOG screenshots are actually zoomed in fully though which is the level you play at so they're not too indictive of the quality of the game.
Sound is reasonable, though the crowd loop can get on your nerves a little and once you think you've heard a kid in the crowd going "c'mon c'mon fat guy" you'll never stop hearing it again.

Finally..... it's $5.99 that's a hell of a lot of game for that price.

Edit: Oh yeah I'd love to get Jagged Alliance 2. I've been eyeing it up since the sale started but still haven't gotten round to purchasing it. Thanks for the competition. I have LBA 1 & 2 :).

Oh also I liked Dark Star One. A lot of people hate it because it was meant to be the next big heavy space sim but it's more of an arcadey free roaming space shooter. If you go in without expectations you'll probably enjoy it.

Prince of Persia Sands of Time.

I just played it on GOG for the first time a few months ago and it is easily one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. It took a little while to get used to but it was worth it. Now if only they'd get the other games on here...
I'd like a Strategy First game, please!

My Game I Love With Passion is Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. The plot, characters and dialogue are still unrivaled. It really helps the atmosphere and the credibility of the storyline when the characters act and talk like real human beings. I first played the game when I was 17 and I was so obsessed with the series for the next four years that I actually traveled to Germany to see the shooting locations of GK2. I also own an actual prop from GK2.
Freespace 2

The most epic space-scifi experience ever. Even without the 'open' it is still the best space sim in entire gaming history: http://youtu.be/xhAR8rWPluQ
Games that I feel quite passionately about are yet to come to GOG, so I am not sure if this post qualifies or not, but among GOG games that I have, one of them is Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator, and this is a short list of my random thoughts (since it cannot be really called a review) on it (copied & pasted from the Septerra Core gamecard page:

Story: 7/10, with interesting game world (with distinguished characteristics for each world shell).
Game length: about 50 to 70 hours.
Graphics: 8/10, about standard for its year.
Voice over: 9/10.
Sound effect: 6/10, not too bad but nothing great either.
Combat system can be annoying to some, but you will get used to it soon enough I guess.
Respawned enemies represent a double-edged sword: It gives the opportunity to grind and level up, and chances to get money, but in the long term it gets boring, repetitive, and annoying.
Nice game save system (you can save anytime, anywhere) but not perfect (you cannot save or load during combat).
Inventory system is simple enough.
Likeable characters, with different personalities.
Half of the game is somewhat linear, but it becomes non-linear once you get a ship. Lots of backtracking that is marred by respawned enemies, though.
Replayability is limited to trying different team members, while the story and gameplay should remain the same.
Overall score: 7/10 for me.

As I said, I am not sure this post qualifies, but if it does, and if I get picked as a winner, then Jagged Alliance 2 for me please. Thanks for the opportunity.
I know it has been said before, but I suggest Psychonauts.

I bought this on a whim during a GOG Gems promo without any previous knowledge about it other than it was highly rated. The game is a great 3D platformer filled with humor, different settings, a great storyline, great voice acting, great music. Everything comes together in a package that is a prime example of everything a 3D platformer should be. It's a very colorful game from beginning to end.

My personal favorite level was the Milkman Conspiracy. First seeing the road and houses twisting through the air was an awe-inspiring sight. The music fit the level perfectly with its paranoid spy-thriller feel.

Thanks for the giveaway. To choose one from the current promo is tough because I have CDs of the games I really like from it already. However, either Jagged Alliance 2 or Patrician 3 might be interesting. if I'm picked, I leave the choice between these two up to you based on your recommendation. :)
