This topic makes me sad. When I moved back to Spain from the US, I had to leave all my comics behind. :(

The Sandman is also my favorite comic ever. Aw, I had that gorgeus (and expensive) Absolute Edition. Oh well. I am surprised that it is so popular, given that it is quite literary. I don't think there is anything quite like it. It's so unique.

I also recommend Alan Moore (the author of Watchmen and V for Vendetta). When I was a teenager, I used to enjoy Christ Claremont's X-Men.

Frank MIller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is another classic.

And, of course, Asterix!

Oh, Fables is awesome! Totally forgot about that. Read them years ago.

I could never get into Y: The Last Man. Find it kind of obnoxious, actually.

The ending certainly was.

As for Fables, "Oh this is the Jabberwocky Sword, snicker-snack and all that."

Okay, paraphrased, but yeah. Also, the identity of The Enemy is... amazing. They really did an amazing job on that one.

If my memory doesn't fail me, I've only read one or two comics (except that monthly kid stuff that kids read when they're kids). The one I remember is Transmetropolitan and I think it was a guddun. So check it out.

I agree with most of the ones already mentioned.

I just reread some Transmetropolitan. Gotta love Warren Ellis. I'm pretty sure he is insane. I am not too sure if I found it actually good or just entertaining, but I also liked his Freak Angels stuff.

Oh and Casanova by Matt Fraction. That one was just pure win.

Also I forgot this one, but Alan's Moore's Swampthing. It is the greatest thing ever.

I never actually made it that far, which sounds like it was probably a good thing. :P I really tried, but it just didn't do it for me.

Man, I know it. Now I really want to read them again. I must have read that series when I was like, 13.
