Rebellion Games 60% off this weekend!

Generals! Soldiers! Warriors! We need your services--and time is precious, so I shall be brief: There's a rebellion going on and casualties have been grim--more than half, in fact. 60% off, I'd say. We need you lead our troops and fight--fight to save us all! What role will you take?

An Evil Genius is needed to establish a base, defend it against all kinds of worthless nogoodniks, and help conquer the world. If that's not your style, perhaps you'd like to establish yourself as a of the [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/lords_of_the_realm_3]Realm, using your strategic and tactical knowhow to crush your opponents and bring the rule of law to the land--your law. You may even have dark powers whispered of only in the shadows, and learn to be a [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/empire_earth_2_gold]Earth Extend your power to control every inch of the ground, for once you've mastered [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/ground_control_expansion]Ground , you will find yourself truly feared. The rebellion may not be over, though--watch out for a [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/sniper_elite_berlin_1945]Sniper Elite who will try and gun you down, and punish those last few dissenters like Judge Dredd.

Finally, once you've crushed the world under your heel? Kick back and enjoy a fun game of pinball. Being a world emperor isn't all work. ;)

And, in case you've missed it, here's what's new. Check out our weekly video about GOG.com's releases and promos and, please be sure to subscribe, like, share, tweet, or plus one our videos if you like 'em. :)

Palvikinkku: Have to be honest here and ask you old-beards: What makes Evil Genius "a must own" game?

As I've tried it before (Okay, it was pirated version...) back in the day, I would like to hear 'nother opinions about how good game it is really? (Game didn't hook me up really, when I tried it)

So as youngling I ask you that question.

Pheace: Don't really know what to tell you if you tried it and didn't like it but don't tell us why. The atmosphere is great, love the music, love the graphics and the Henchmen. It's great fun building and designing a base to effectively keep out the forces of good, lining the hallways with traps to dazzle and confuse them, or if needed, kill them. Building traps that combo with eachother for more income. Sending wonderfully crazy henchmen in to finish the job if needed. All the while plotting and looting the world in preparation of my master plan.
Thanks from the response. I wouldn't be surprised if I picked this game again someday and give it another go.

Sadly, it won't be this time. I have too many games on my Steam/GoG library to purchase any new games any time soon :P

the_bard: What should I be picking up from this lot?

JMich: Evil Genius.
I did take your advice and I watched an LP, but I did not feel a genuine stirring in my loins. Maybe I was distracted by a screaming child playing with his Batman toys. Or maybe it's because of all the games in my backlog atm. I actually logged into those other sites today (/me coughs steam and such) for the first time in ages. I will probably pick it up at some point. Empire Earth did interest me a bit and I already own the LotRs. If I was going to buy one Empire Earth; it would be the first yeah?

Oh, and I did enjoy the review for Evil Genius that stated something or other about being good for those that game with cats in their laps. Maybe I'll get it. I do enjoy stroking a cat and strategizing. Having a cat in your lap and plotting just seem to go hand in hand. Or hand in fur as it were.

Sorry for the off-topic, but this made me think of this old strip.
Promos often lead to giveaway spikes, even subliminal ones....
So Lords of Magic or Lords of the Realm?
I had no clue that Lords of Magic was made by Rebellion.

No, it's simply distributed by them. It was made by Impressions, if I recall correctly.

dirtyharry50: I still have not sat down and gotten into any RTS yet. Are the Empire games (the first two), good for an RTS newbie? They look like they'd be fun. I don't know how I've been PC gaming for this many years without ever playing an RTS but I guess as usual I will blame my past MMO addiction (I am recovering!) for this evil.

Speaking of Evil, Evil Genius does look nifty too.
I loved Empire Earth, highly reccomment it. I even did a few giveaways of it, just to spread it around.

TheEnigmaticT: G-Doc is out sick and I have no idea what the heck I'm doing. :P

F4LL0UT: G-Doc is sick. Meanwhile at the GOG office.
Yup. That's pretty much what I imagine that was happening around here last Friday. I'm all better now, though. :-)

And originally published by Sierra. :B
How is Lords of Magic? Lords of the Realm looks like one I want to pick up but I'm not so sure about Lords of Magic. In a review I read they had some complaints about difficulty and frequently having to deal with pain in the ass marauding mobs or whatnot. They still gave the game a 7.0 even so. Anyone have some thoughts to share on this one?

The game is VERY fun, but the AI cheats shamelessly (to prove it, start a Thief character and steal from a rival Hero - you'll be surprised how many resources they've "collected") and in the first part of a game, you'll have a hard time keeping your units in shape/alive. So yes, there's certainly some real difficulty and then some fake difficulty.
That said, LoM is very well put together (a good strategy game with just the right amount of RPG in it, with good diversity among the various element/hero combinations) and indeed fun to play.

Okay, so if you found it fun to play I guess the difficulty can't be that bad then or at least it isn't impossible. Thanks.

Let's say, it's difficult to get into, but it's incredibly satisfying when you finally start curb-stomping enemies (when you can train your units instead of hiring them), at which point Death's overpowered-from-the-start troops will be about the only problem you encounter.

Okay, I think I must get this one too. Thank you for answering my questions about it. :D
