Great titles from Rebellion, including Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945, the Empire Earth series, Evil Genius and two Ground Control games, are available this weekend with a 50% discount.

You may have heard about a new release in the Sniper Elite series that came out today, so we thought it would be topical for you to get a look at the original game here on GOG.com for just $4.99. Unlike modern FPS games, where you just go forward guns-blazing through whichever route isn't blocked, [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sniper_elite_berlin_1945]Sniper Elite is about stealth, patience and precision. You will have to choose the best route, avoid enemy patrols, look our for enemy snipers, wait for openings and, if an opportunity presents itself, take a shot. Make sure to give the original Sniper Elite, here on GOG.com, a test for only $4.99.

Empire Earth is the first title of an acclaimed series of real-time strategy games, bundled with the Art of Conquest expansion pack. The game is (loosely) based on actual history, starting with the prehistoric age and spanning half a million years. You can essentially create your own civilization by selecting new unit/building bonuses, epoch by epoch. Fans of the first Empire Earth game will not be disappointed with , as it both retained all the strong points of its predecessor and added a ton of new features and improvements, making the game more complex, challenging and ultimately more satisfying to play. [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/empire_earth_3]Empire Earth III, the third game in this great series, is also on sale today as well.

Ground Control looks like a real-time strategy, but there’s no resource gathering or building units; it’s more of a real-time tactics game. Instead, the game feels more like commanding an actual hi-tech army. Ground Control 2: Operation Exodus follows the path of its predecessor and forms a fast-paced tactical game which, when combined with its deep, interesting storyline, will leave you begging for more.

If you haven’t played Evil Genius, you've missed out on a truckload of fun! Featuring cartoonish design, tons of dark humor, and great gameplay, this is one game you simply shouldn't miss! You are put in the role of an Evil Genius - a criminal mastermind intent on world domination. You must build your underground lair, guard it from meddling secret agents and send your minions to perform acts of infamy across the globe. Considered by many as a spiritual successor to the Dungeon Keeper series, this game definitely showcases the quirky humor and brilliant gameplay of that series, and it’s just $4.99 this weekend!

Check all 12 discounted titles from Rebellion. This offer lasts until Monday, May 7th at 11.59 p.m. EDT.

hedwards: I've pretty much learned not to buy anything from nVidia as it seems like they have more problems with that than Intel and AMD.

Foxhack: Buh? I've had HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES WITH AMD VIDEO HARDWARE. Nvidia has never given me problems. :(
I always heard that people had more problems with ATI cards than Nvidia ones. I have an ATI card haven't had a lot of problems but then again my high end games are still waiting for a more powerful setup before I can run them.

bottom line is don't believe everything you read on the internet. half the problems are posted by people who can't tie their own shoelaces...

been using ATI GPUs since 3Dfx closed down. i had a few issues here and there, but nothing major. i just bought my 5th ATI GPU. i wouldn't have done that if i was unhappy with their tech.

I've RMA'd more NV hardware than AMD/ATI and I've had a lot more ATI generations than NV ones... AMD problems are usually just a driver issue fixed by up/downgrading the driver NV problems are almost always hardware issues (bumpgate, under powered VMU's, under cooled etc etc)

That I'd agree with ATI are a little difficult with their drivers on occasions for particular games. One reason why I tend to keep an archive of graphics drivers, just in case
As much as Lords of the realm 3 sucks in comparison to the first 2 for $3 i gotta add it to my GOG shelf

I've had the opposite experience. When I finally fully switched from ATI to Nvidia, all of my drivers and specific games issues were resolved. Both cards seem to be acceptable in the grand scheme of things, but people have their preferences based on experience.

As for the selection... seems RTS heavy. Also seems like other offers have been RTS heavy as well. Not a complaint as much as an observation.

hucklebarry: snip
An RMA means returning it to manufacturer for repair/replacement/refund as I said most of my AMD/ATI problems were driver most of my NV problems have been hardware (dodgy materials, insufficient power hardware, badly cooled...)
Good luck selling these Rebellion titles for $4.99, when all other stores ask $2.49 or less. When on sale, I mean.

I did not misunderstand your post.
Good deal if I didn't own the Empire Earth games already. The others I may get is Ground Control and GC2
How nice of the publisher to throw in a bigger sale instead of just discounting Sniper Elite to promote the released sequel/remake.
All cool games.
Damm, you I was just thinking of saving up, and ONLY spending IF you had either Judge Dread or EE2 on sale, DAMM YOU GOG! DAMM YOU!
Can someone make me a recomendation-comparisson (or lack of it) for Lords of the Realm Royal Ed. and Lords of the Realm 3?

Hmm I'm considering EE2, Evil Genius, both Ground Controls, Lords of the Realm (1&2), and Sniper Elite.

No one seems to have mentioned Lords of Magic. Any thoughts on that one? I enjoy all those HoMM/AoW games.

And if I go by what I read online, it appears to me that with ATI/AMD cards backwards compatibility with older games seems better (e.g. older GOG Windows 3D games), while with some newer games GeForce seems to be a better choice (e.g. the ID Rage problems with AMD cards, or Cryostasis etc.).

So if there's any truth to those, I guess for now I'll be keeping my retro machines with ATI/AMD cards, and my next powerhouse PC/laptop will be with Geforce. There doesn't seem to be much choice with the latter anyway, since AMD seems to be lacking behind with powerful graphics chips for laptops.
