Great titles from Rebellion, including Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945, the Empire Earth series, Evil Genius and two Ground Control games, are available this weekend with a 50% discount.

You may have heard about a new release in the Sniper Elite series that came out today, so we thought it would be topical for you to get a look at the original game here on GOG.com for just $4.99. Unlike modern FPS games, where you just go forward guns-blazing through whichever route isn't blocked, [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sniper_elite_berlin_1945]Sniper Elite is about stealth, patience and precision. You will have to choose the best route, avoid enemy patrols, look our for enemy snipers, wait for openings and, if an opportunity presents itself, take a shot. Make sure to give the original Sniper Elite, here on GOG.com, a test for only $4.99.

Empire Earth is the first title of an acclaimed series of real-time strategy games, bundled with the Art of Conquest expansion pack. The game is (loosely) based on actual history, starting with the prehistoric age and spanning half a million years. You can essentially create your own civilization by selecting new unit/building bonuses, epoch by epoch. Fans of the first Empire Earth game will not be disappointed with , as it both retained all the strong points of its predecessor and added a ton of new features and improvements, making the game more complex, challenging and ultimately more satisfying to play. [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/empire_earth_3]Empire Earth III, the third game in this great series, is also on sale today as well.

Ground Control looks like a real-time strategy, but there’s no resource gathering or building units; it’s more of a real-time tactics game. Instead, the game feels more like commanding an actual hi-tech army. Ground Control 2: Operation Exodus follows the path of its predecessor and forms a fast-paced tactical game which, when combined with its deep, interesting storyline, will leave you begging for more.

If you haven’t played Evil Genius, you've missed out on a truckload of fun! Featuring cartoonish design, tons of dark humor, and great gameplay, this is one game you simply shouldn't miss! You are put in the role of an Evil Genius - a criminal mastermind intent on world domination. You must build your underground lair, guard it from meddling secret agents and send your minions to perform acts of infamy across the globe. Considered by many as a spiritual successor to the Dungeon Keeper series, this game definitely showcases the quirky humor and brilliant gameplay of that series, and it’s just $4.99 this weekend!

Check all 12 discounted titles from Rebellion. This offer lasts until Monday, May 7th at 11.59 p.m. EDT.
What's evil genius like? is it like a big RTS?

Those of you who still don't have Evil Genius should consider buying it, it's an excellent game.
Pretty good promo, too bad I have all already. Apparently I had even bought that pinball game at some point, so I am obliged to at least try it out at some point.

EDIT: Ack, "that pinball game" was actually a bundle of the good-old Digital Illusions pinball games, which I've already played quite a bit. I prefer the Pro Pinball games though, simply because they show the whole pinball table all the time. Much easier to play that way than trying to guess where the unseen targets are. Damn rolling tables, bah!

Two things. Wasn't there a similar promo right after the Christmas one and secondly, weren't some of these games published by Sierra, LOTR and Ground Control for example. Did Rebellion take over the respective IP or was it like this from the start?
Bad weekend for me. 4 releases, 2 promos but nothing for me...
Meh...There will be another week

It's basically a lot like Dungeon Keeper but with a comical James Bond villain theme. There's a little more to it than base building as your income comes from a map screen where you send out men to steal money, people & technology from countries. Heroes are replaced by agents of different classes & nations who invade your base. You also build a hotel to keep tourists from wandering into your secret mountain base.

It's like Dungeon Keeper meets James Bonds axis of evil.

Edit: Ah, serpantino was faster.

Sierra hasn't been around for a while now. Activision acquired most of their IP, but apparently, other companies got a piece of the pie as well. Caesar III, another Impressions game, is distributed by Activision these days.

not sure if these games used to be distributed by Rebellion, but digital publishing rights switch hands all the time.

good timing on Sniper Elite, BTW. with the excellent sequel out today in Europe.

Nice selection there, but I'm getting Arkham City this weekend.
I'm thinking about buying Sniper Elite but it doesn't have good average rating. Why is that? The game is really mediocre?
Just picked up Ground Control 1 and 2 to try them in English - had them for years on disc.

As for the Pinball Gold Pack - I don't know if it has since been fixed, will have to look in a bit, but be warned: it is a very sloppily put together package. Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies are the original versions, not the Deluxe high-res versions. Pinball Mania is hidden in a compilation menu with Pinball Fantasies, and Pinball Illusions is missing a significant chunk of its music.

I think the first review makes a good case for the "average" rating, though I still haven't played the game, so I can't really say whether that holds true or not.

It's a type of RTS. You have henchmen and minions that go around doing your bidding. You build rooms for them to work in and set traps for heroes. And you send your henchmen out into the world to commit acts of infamy.

But, you only get to control your evil genius and the henchmen, the minions do whatever they please.

EDIT: The one thing I hate about the game is that it's relatively finnicky, once I got things set up properly it was pretty stable, but it doesn't play nice with other programs and with dual core processors.

So basically a 1960s spy-themed Dungeon Keeper?
