SimonG: I would also guess that it was a f*ck up on GOGs part. They probably only had games in the original agreement and forgot about the exp, or thought they were included.

Nabuchodonozor: Yes because GOG.com has a long history of forgetting about games, not releasing bonus content, not adding bonus content when they can, and generally not caring about the releases once they go live. Guys seriously? ...

I'm sure that there's some legal mumbo jumbo in the way, GOG has always provided us with the best deal they could get and if they don't include the expansions, they probably have a good reason for that.
I love how the most popular "theories about the missing EA expansions" seem to fall into the following three categories (regardless of the fact that there is practically zero evidence to support any of them):

1) GOG are a bunch of incompetent morons who don't know what they're doing!
2) GOG is trying to screw us all out of more money!
3) GOG and EA are trying to screw us all out of more money!

It's times like these where I wish that GOG had never signed EA at all.

TheEnigmaticT: I've publicly stated this reason before, and I was busy, so I hadn't found the time to reply to another thread about the same topic yet.
Considering how formulaic the responses you're able to give are, you should just have whomever it is that does the coding for the site just code an Enigbot to give the same information every time somebody asks.

Nothing personal, but it would save you quite a bit of time having to remind people that you can't give more informative answers until the games are officially being released.

- buying the stuff they make
- spreading the word
- keeping on demanding allways more and ever better service in a friendly manner (eg. more expansions :) )
I don't buy games I'm not interested in, but when I'm interested, I get them from GOG. :) I should get a t-shirt, too. :P

As for the service, yeah, sometimes it can be depressing to look at a few of the other game forums (Dungeon Keeper :P) and see people getting frustrated that a game doesn't work for them. Hopefully they're in the minority, however. (With respect to them)

People with problems running a game are surely much more likely to post in such a forum. So their true number will be overrated. On the other hand it's surely an indication that Dungeon Keeper doesn't run as smooth. Because I have so many other games still to play I decided not to buy it at christmas. Too risky.

If it makes anybody feel any better the 'GTA Classics Collection' over on Steam is missing that 1969 stand-alone expansion for GTA1, presumably because making it was farmed out t external people - so it happens to others too!

That and all the audio glitches. It made every NPC sound funny.

I think that most people here understand that these expansions are tangled into a legal mess of some sort and GOG is doing its best to grab hold of them. It's just that the conspiracy adepts are usually more noisy than the majority.

If it is so difficult, why can others bring expansions to GOG? Why can't EA for a single expansion of their games here?

We know either we must blame GOG or EA. We are just not sure whom. :)

Not everyone's expansions are in the same legal mess that EA's are. Many of the smaller publishers use the same developer for the expansions that they used for the original game, making rights negotiations much, MUCH easier. That is usually not the case with EA's titles, where the expansions are often farmed out to other devs. Long story short, blame EA for doing what just comes naturally to them.
