You have to remember - there are people out there who will complain long and hard (Esp if people are listening and esp on the internet) even if you paid them to play games that they want to play (saying that the payment is too small).
There are always those who will complain about prices, the hagglers and the cheapskates - and you'll encounter many many of them when you are dealing with the lower priced products (and GoG is, by gaming standards, cheap priced).

Further we have to remember that with games we also have a large segment of the supporting population who are not in an earning capacity. They are teenagers or younger and simply don't generally have access to the same amount of money. $9.99 isn't much to a person drawing a decent wage and without major outlays - its a whole other matter if that is a whole two or more weeks worth of pocket money (and there are only so many newspaper rounds out there in the world ;)).

Undoubtly a good price for the good games among them. Only since the expansions are not available here or maybe also anywhere else, it doesn't help much. People want them too and they don't understand why there is a difference between expansions and non expansions and why the first cannot come here too. Clearly this all must be non trivial legal reasons. People just don't understand. That's all.

Oh yes, thank you very much for replying. It's good to hear from the boys in blue an official statement on these matters so there's not so much speculation. I understand about the problems, and there's nothing you can do expect keep working on it, currently. Most definitely; we continue to appreciate what you guys do. Keep in mind, though, that you want to continue providing that which piracy cannot provide. People can probably torrent or download many of these neglected games illegally, so making sure they easily work on modern PCs, have as many extras a possible (especially a soundtrack or other hard to find ones), there's efficient customer support available, and other things (of course DRM-free, but piracy is a biggun for that, too) gives reason to keep customers happy and coming back. :) Hopefully more staff can be hired as funds increase, and if there's anything we fans can (relatively easily) do, lettuce know.

Let me answer instead:
- buying the stuff they make
- spreading the word
- keeping on demanding allways more and ever better service in a friendly manner (eg. more expansions :) )

I wasn't aware that this planet has so many cheapskates. Yeah, another reason to be proud to be a human being...not. But you should understand that making a decent amount of money nowadays is a rare thing if you look at the entire world. So I'm still convinced a lot of the people complaining are just poor gamers who want more money left over for food, clothes and bills.

i know you love your conspiracy theories, but are you serious?!? have you taken a look at Origin? EA has not the least interest in selling their older games again.

Origin is for their latest and upcoming titles. it has absolutely nothing to do with old EA games. you'll never see any of them on Origin.

I think he meant "rich" as in doing better off than going from paycheck to paycheck each week/month. And also some poor in third world countries think 6-10 bucks is alot of money in their countries.

i think some members are just panicking thinking GoG might raise prices for future releases if enough members express their willingness to pay more...

but i see it as a possibility to sell the base game at $5.99 and the complete edition at $9.99. if you don't want to pay that much you can always wait for the inevitable discount anyway. of course, it wouldn't hurt to introduce a few additional price points, either.

i'm just saying that if cost is an issue, by all means raise the prices. that would at least be better than not getting the expansions at all.

Yes, 99% of Germans are doing rather well over here. I was talking about the world. That big ball in space where most people are living paycheck to paycheck.

I don't think GoGs market is the "whole" world. Its the hobbyist gamers who earn enough to support an internet connection, half decent computer and a bit of money for their games (be that weekly, monthly, etc..).

In the end GoG has its own costs to cover just as they've rights holders to pay - so prices will always be limited by their own constraints, though their overall company image and market suggests strongly that they keep their release prices as low as they can.

That said they've already spoken of rising the range of prices on offer in order to open up their service to more modern titles and already said that this is in the pipeline.

I don't know why you are defending GOG. I never said anything against GOG. And one can be a hobbyist gamer, and not earn enough money to spend money like water. Life isn't the Sims. People can't just go on the computer and find a nice job. Maybe you just feel like being a fanboy which I can understand because GOG is awesome but I never said anything against GOG.
