Nice giveaway, +1

My preferences are single player rpg with more riddles/puzzles over fighting. Good story is also plus.
I'm in!
played sp and mp. i like party based (m & magic vi, wizardry 8, wizards & warriors style) or single character like (gothic, oblivion) combat, stealing & killing all to get rich :))
I am in.

I'll take any mode aslong as I can make everyone my minions mwhahaha!
In for ROA 3. Thank you for your generosity!

I like most the character development about RPG, as in leveling up and being able to do more than before, such as using new skills/spells.
Count me in. Thanks, Gandalf.nho.

I've never played any multiplayer one.

I like parties slightly better than single characters. But I like both. With parties, you seem like playing more roles, not just one. There'd be more character micromanagement, but I like managing things. Also, there'd be cooperation between party members which replaces the absence of other players in SP games. However you get roleplaying immersion with single characters. That depends whether the game has good story, details, or realistic enough.

Generally I prefer plenty of combat, as long as it's not too repetitive. Usually this is determined by combat mechanism, variety of enemies, style of how they fight you, variety of combat situations including locations. I very much like the possibility of unlimited enemies, means unlimited combat, means more XP, loot. But of course you can choose not to fight all the time, only when you want, at least after advancing well into the game. Take the Arena in Might & Magic for example.

Exploration is one of the most important aspect to me, because you're into someone's world after all. It has to be huge like real world. But this is only enjoyable if you can roam free in it. It's also great if you get a different randomized world every time you start a new game. It adds a lot of replayability. I like playing select few games with high replayability than playing a lot of games but you get always the same when you get back.

Crafting is always nice. It means more items possibly more nice artifacts in your game. You don't have to rely on loot or rare expensive artifact shops. It enrich the game a lot.

It's always nice to have some good minigame in-game. They're kind of distracting you from the world you're living momentarily. They'd be nice breaks in RPGs which tend to be long and exhausting. They also adds immersion too.

Just like open huge world, I love open ending for the sake of replayability and also that the decisions you make are determining how the story would develop. You'd be more considerate with your decisions and judgements. You'd face the consequences of your actions including your words. Just like in our real world. That would be a great immersion.

I also love it when you are not tied by time. You can end the game when you want to. I'm not so much like it if you have to finish the main quest, the main problem of the story ASAP.

Still not enough? :D
Just ask....
Thanks for your giveaway, gandalf! And kudos to samlii as well, many of us have been blessed by his endless generosity. :)

Please, count me in for Recsam511, if I may.

I only play SP ones (no Internet access at home, so...). Doesn't matter to me if the game uses a single character or a party, although single char ones are definitely more easy to manage. I like combat, exploration and dialogues to be balanced, and crafting is welcome, if it's good. ;)

I dislike my characters dying for lack of food or beverage (this happens in RoA 1 and 2, IIRC). I don't have any problem in looking for food in rogue-likes if needed (sometimes this is a integral part of their story, as in "Don't Starve"), but I hate when I continually have to do the same in RPGs, because it's like I'm doing homework instead of focusing in the plot. ;)

Finally, I love when a RPG has choices & consequences, and the options presented to you have pros and cons each one or they are shades of grey, instead of being only "good deed vs wrongdoing".

You're welcome. ;)
I'm in.

I prefer SP even though I'm going to plunge into a MMO soon. I love SP especially if the story is engaging. RPG is like unveiling a novel at our own pace. MMO lost a lot of its depth because not many people want to role play.
Thanks for your generosity.
Most times i play SP but i played Ultima Online for many years and enjoyed it.
What i don't like is grinding just because there is no other way to beat the next big boss.
ohh, yeah i am in for.....Thespian* ;-)
And I'll be in for the hippo^^

As to RPGs, there's way too much combat in them, always. The less combat, the better. Don't get me wrong, I like combat, but I believe in games and genres living up to their names. And for RPGs, its interaction with other characters (preferably non-violent) that gives a true role-playing feel.
I'm in...for the Quixotic Knight, or le_chevalier as he is more commonly known. Not only is he a solid community member but he took the time to provide a well thought out, non-generic answer. (Much of which I agree with.) Obviously, he's passionate about his rpg's.
As for me, if I had a choice, it'd be single player based but if party based, I prefer Legend of Grimrock party as opposed to Baldurs Gate party. I loved BG back in the day but as I got older, that style just didn't resonate with me. Whether it be faulty pathing or too much going on in battle, etc.
And the more there is to do, the better. Especially crafting. Being an original Everquest player, I've been enchanted with crafting ever since in games. And obviously Morrowind/Oblivion turned me onto open world exploration where you never knew what was beyond that next bend or hill.

Thanks for the giveaway and good luck le_chevalier.
in & +1! :D

what I like most in RPGs is the dialogues! (that's why I make character that have high speech skills and are "crap" in combat :P single character or party doesnt matter for me.

And as combat is concerned usually more is better but not the hack n slash kind :P

rest are more like "flavor" to me,usually, but that is always depended on execution...

thanks! :D

I like the dialogues in RPG. It looks like reading book with visual representation and it better then films.
