soulgrindr: I hope there's one that cuts all the rubbish out of the new star wars films... *searches*

You won't find the main one on fanedit.org, since it was condemned by Lucas, who felled it rivaled his own work.
Look for the "Phantom Edit" if you want the "more sense, better editing, less stupid Anakin and JarJar" vanilla; alternatively, there are some others, more radical edits, altering plot drastically.
Speaking of the original trilogy - have all of you already heard of the GOUT edition? (Original Unaltered Trilogy)? There is no rubbish SFX in there, Han shoots first et cetera: it is the 2006 official rerelease of the source material; for me, it's the best SW version ever.
How did Star Wars wind up getting mentioned in a thread that has absolutely nothing in common with Star Wars?

Somebody mentioned the Matrix. And then the talk naturally flowed to other somewhat silly movies we all had secretly hoped would turn out better.
Anachronox..loved all games mentioned above, but enough said with this game
I thank everyone for the valuable input. It served to prove there's little in the way of good cyberpunk RPGs, but also to revive some great games...

I really wish there were more cyberpunk RPGs...getting kind of tired of orcs, elves, dwarves all speaking with a different English accent....

A new Shadowrun is underway. It will probably be arse though.

Last I heard (about a month ago) they wanted to hold off on another Shadowrun game, because the previous one did so poorly. They want to give it a bit more time for everyone to forget about it.
Now with that said, what have you heard about a new SR game? I'd be VERY interested in one.

Link with rumors about it being an MMO, and they are back in the hands of FASA...technically..

While not fully fitting into the typical Cyberpunk archetype, </span> features a few loose cyberpunk elements, like high tech weaponry.<div class="quot quot_text normal_color "><div class="small_avatar_2_h"><img src="/upload/avatars/2009/08/e39c184b0243fac48e60ea920dc3e721eea287ac_t2.jpg " width="16" height="16" alt="avatar" /></div><span class="quot_text"><span class="quot_user_name">Wraith: </span></span>[url=http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=16535]Link with rumors about it being an MMO, and they are back in the hands of FASA...technically..

They'd better do it right this time. Honestly I'd rather them go back to the roots and make a singleplayer RPG, but Shadowrun has potential as an MMORPG. However, going by FASA's recent track record, methinks there's a high possibility of it becoming another online grindfest.

I feel like I wrote the original post for this thread. I have LOVED cryberpunk my entire adult life... I played Shadowrun when I was a teenager on SNES and Genesis and just fell in love with those ideas. Deus Ex was like a revelation after that, such amazing games, the first especially, but I loved both.
It really is a shame we have had ZERO cyberpunk games since then. If I were a conspiracy person, I would think it has something to do with corporations being evil in Cyberpunk and corporations running the game industry.
Hahaha... or maybe it's something else entirely.
On the plus side, there IS a Deus Ex 3 coming let's all remember, though as a prequel it looked a little cleaner and less cyberpunk-ish in the concept art and early screens.
Where the hell is that game, anyway?

I find it hard to ruin a Deus Ex game, but Deus Ex 3 might not be very cyberpunkish as you noted. And... *sigh* that'd be frustrating for me, wanting so badly more cyberpunk in my gaming.

I think everyone agrees that this 2007 Windows/XBox release was deservedly ignored by most Shadowrun and cyberpunk fans. Taking an table-top RPG system and turning it into an arena game with no campaign was like inventing a bad joke. Next thing you know they're making a catch-the-flag arena game out of Fallout or Dungeons & Dragons.

Shit, I think RPGs were so much better when there was no such thing as MMO (except for MUDs which were pretty much always independent)... I'm not against it, but since I'm against monthly fees for games, a Shadowrun MMORPG would automatically rule me out, and then more so, as I'm not a huge fan of any MMORPG campaign even when it's free.

The annoying this is that, as a Counter Strike clone, Shadowrun wasn't that bad. I got it for $5 on gogamer at one point and it plays well, has cool powers, looks good for an online title.
It was just SO not what that license was, it was despised. Well, that and the large aim boxed due to console cross-play.
Another good game I forgot to mention before was Circuit's edge, although it's really a cross genre, might not fit entirely in the RPG category. It's well worth playing either way.
