The Whispered World, Grimlock, and now Machinarium have completely caught my attention. I've been trying to save up for a new computer so I can get back into modern gaming, but GOG is revealing to me that great games can still be played on ancient computers (or bargain laptops as the case may be). Thank you GOG!
Don't try playing Trine or Grimlock on a bargain laptop.
Another junkie has joined the horde I see. Just drop your wallet into that there shredder.

Oh, believe me I'll try! May not be successful but that's not going to stop me! Btw, still saving up for a new computer so even if it doesn't work it hardly matters in the long run.

This.

Just because they're indie doesn't mean that they don't need some power. I can't speak for Grimlock, but I know that Trine won't run on my machine. Dat Unreal Engine III :P

Beautiful game, though.

I'm in the same boat.

Works alright if you drop the details all down to minimum. Still a bit juddery, but playable.

My bargain laptop doesn't even play Deus Ex smoothly.
My desktop is bargain and 'ancient' (2009) and if I run Trine on the lowest setup possible it definitely is playable. But that's not the same as enjoyable in my book. What fun is it to play a game like Trine in 640x480 with all the sparky effects turned off? ;)

lol Is that from 1999? My $300 laptop comes with an HD6310. It plays CS:S quite well.

I play Trine on my HP Compaq Mini 311 netbook (25fps average) so you could be alright. It is an nvidia chipset though.

Ok, but will it blend?

How did you get a real vid card in a $300 laptop? Anything under $500 has Intel HD Graphics, which is what mine has.
It's great that we are getting "Newer" Indie games here on GOG

However when GOG said that they would be releasing "Newer" games I thought that it would be you know...big releases from big publishers

Hopefully we will see those over here soon

No idea. It's a Toshiba Satellite. Shows them online for 350 which is what I paid I think. Although all the ones I just looked up say they have integrated graphics cards. Mine shows 6310 under device manager though.
