Yeah, GOG probably worked out the cluster fuck that is the System Shock rights. Why didn't they just release System Shock? I really wanted to see System Shock on GOG because I really like System Shock. I've never played System Shock but I heard System Shock is really cool and awesome so I would have preferred System Shock.

Release System Shock GOG, I don't think you understand how many people want System Shock.

Damn, you're right. I forgot to mention System Shock 2!
So now I can get old classics, as well as new games at great prices, all DRM-free plus with GOG service/bonuses, and this is somehow a bad thing?

No, the OP is right. I bet the problem is that GOG is completely unaware that lots of people would like to see the System Shock games here.

The sad part of it is that he probably didn't get them all.

I suppose I should say yes, but the reality is that I made the list a while ago, for all the System Shock beg threads that kept popping up. I keep it in a text file on my desktop, along with a less snarky and more helpful generic response to "normal" "bring game X to GOG" threads.

So in a way, yes I did, just not for this particular thread.

Ryan390: GOG's got many of my favourite games available for download. IMO, they have had a pretty decent stint the last 3-4 months with some old classics, particularly the Thief series..

However why are we hosting new releases, like the latest 3?

Surely releasing something like System Shock 1 + 2 would have been more logical? Not everyone has the power to run modern day games, and what's the point? They can be ascertained from anywhere, is it purely a business decision or is GOG not so OG any more?
A little help, since it seems you're a new poster:

1) As already mentioned, the GOG community as a whole voted to have modern releases alongside old releases. I don't necessarily agree, but the fact is that GOG is basically just doing what most users want. Not exactly a bad thing.

2) If someone were to make a list of all the unwritten GOG "do nots," then...well, I guess they wouldn't be unwritten anymore. But the point is that requesting System Shock 2 would be right at the top. Just... don't. Don't do it. As Wishbone has emphasized, the subject is a thoroughly beaten dead horse. In fact last I knew, System Shock 2 is the #1 most requested entry for the GOG catalogue.
OMG THE NEW GAMES ARE COMING THE NEW GAMES ARE COMING!!!!1111!!!!!!! QUICK EVERYONE HIDE IN THE DIRT SO THEY DON'T CORRUPT YOUR SOUL!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!

Yeah in case you didn't clue in to the sarcasm I don't really see the big deal with these newer games coming, in fact I welcome them to the party. i just don't see what's wrong with having both newer and older games here. I mean is there some kind of chemical reaction that happens when you pit new and old games together that has the power to destroy the world or something, because that is the only good excuse you could make as far as I'm concerned

as of the "possibility" of fewer older games being released. we don't know that yet and considering how many people addressed their concerns when we heard about this months ago, i doubt it is going to happen. Listen if we go weeks in a row without a old release then I say bring out the picket signs and pitchforks.

Hi

I'm from an alternate reality where this thread isn't just another whinge about how GOG didn't manage to release a game you care about this week. In my reality we use the word "obtain" instead of "ascertained". It's strange, I know. But I think I'll go back there now all the same.
