KavazovAngel: Girls dressed in some protection crap is hardly called football. Keep your trolling away from this thread.
Anyway, now with Mourinho, we will kick Barca's ass. :p

ilves: I wasn't trolling, I was stating what I remembered from history. I think people who get angry and caught up over what 'real' football is are dumb. Who cares if they're both called football?

Orryyrro: Soccer was a slang term derived from the name "association football", association football as a term derived to differentiate football from "rugby football", so no, soccer wasn't the original name however both American football and "real" association football fall under the definition of football which is a team game played on foot with the attempt to score points by bring a ball to the opponents side of the field in some manner or another.

There is that, although there has been some research that it might also derive from the word to 'sock' something even earlier than the 1800s, back when a sock referred to '‘light shoe’ more than a sock that it does today, which just essentially meant to kick something with a shoe. But no real proof, I just think its interesting where the word came from.

Just don't worry about it. Clearly Stonebro got REALLY offended by the other thread and felt the need to continue his tirade in this one. And even daring to mention the topic that led to this attempt at trolling IS trolling, since you are inciting flames by forcing them to respond with more intolerance at other cultures :p
Besides, CLEARLY skinny and sexy guys in short shorts drenched in sweat are more masculine than big burly guys in spandex drenched in sweat. So obviously the term "football" should only ever apply to the former. :p. Well, the former, and that nice service you can get from a saigon whore where she brings you to climax with her foot. But whatever.
For the record: average sized guys in padding with no teeth and big sticks could kick the crap out of all of them. But the sticks probably help.
^ haha! :D
Just having some fun - I love Soccer (football), American Football, and many other sports. Yes Gundato Hockey is a great sport and being from Northern Minnesota originally is one of the top sports on my list. If anyone should have been offended in the other thread it should have been me as I was trying to get input into a decent internet sports package and the thread was hijacked into a my dad's bigger than your dad tirade that really did not help me in the least. Who cares - enjoy the sport you like the best. I would watch American Football if it was called carry the egg.
Turkish League has started this week too. I hope Fenerbahce SK will be the champion. :)
Hockey is great, I love it and watch at least a game a week during the season, live. Which is saying a lot considering they're usually aired at 1 AM here at the earliest if they're live.
Poor opening 25 minutes by Manchester United so far. No worries though, we're always slow starters with a certain propensity for winning the opening game 1-0.

Derailment: What leagues/teams do you follow in hockey?
Slightly more on topic: I don't really follow football, but it is one of the few sports I can stand watching.

Being from Minnesota originally - I was very upset when the North Stars went to Dallas. I follow college hockey and specifically Bemidji State - my old college team.
