Though it's fair to give them shit for accusing every negative reviewer of "playing it wrong", they have taken massive strides to correct everything. This 3rd re-make will find its way onto Steam in the coming weeks. I may just give it a shot.
I have certainly read reviews where reviewers played the game wrong. You certainly can play a game wrong, I don't know why that became some kind of slang for defending bad games.

Anyway... this looks alright. I will watch some gameplay video and maybe make a purchase, considering the low price.

Played the game wrong? What does that mean? How can one play a game "wrong"? I'm confused...

You can ignore certain features or abilities, you can play a multiplayer-focused game solo, you can not listen to vital story content or mission directions and then be lost. There are many other examples I am sure.

All these things can then cause you to complain about the game, when in fact it's your fault.

ah, now it makes sense. Thank you for explaining :)

Trying to play splinter cell like gears of war when a fight is the punishment for fucking up the stealth, standing in the open with an m60 playing rambo in operation flashpoint then complaining that you get slaughtered...

Saying that Hitman 2 is too easy because you can just run in and shoot everyone if you want...

Wasn't that the correct way of playing Conviction...

Yes, because they made that game to appeal to people who played the original games like that and then called them crap.

I've enjoyed every game in the series, and I didn't mind Conviction at all.

That's great, but completely irrelevant. I wasn't making a quality statement. I liked Conviction as well, but it's not really a stealth game and certainly is very different gameplay wise than the four Splinter Cell games before it. It was made to appeal more to shooter fans.
I always thought this game looked interesting. I might check it out since it is coming to the PC.

I'm a little embarrassed to say that Conviction was/is the only Splinter Cell I've played. I enjoyed playing the co-op, I thought the 'ending' was pretty fun.

Play Chaos Theory, it's one of the best games of all time. It's $10 on Steam or is available on Xbox Live if you're a console gamer.

They will also be releasing an HD upgraded version of the first three games in a few months on PS3 and 360.

I'll have to keep an eye out for this. Thanks!
