Why such hatred? I wouldn't personally buy that, but I think it's fitting a spot that still doesn't quite exist. Portable PC gaming with decent controls. It definitely isn't made to compete directly with gaming pc. Smells like rich kid's toy, however this kind of technological advancement is never bad for anyone.

Those controllers look really uncomfortable to use I mean the button placement would've been better on the sides for the way you have to grip it. Why take a good spec and stick it in stupid hardware? I mean tablets on their own are bad enough..... ok they have LIMITED merit but as something for gaming? Hell no. They'd have been better off making a real good gaming netbook. (I think they have been working on one for that matter)
There's nothing tablets do that another device doesn't do better and without necessitating a screen covered in smudges, oil, grease etc. I have an android phone & I game on it sometimes but the constant multicoloured smudges that are on it as a result of natural body oils really irritates me, I'm constantly cleaning it. I wish touch screen would die.

Is there a prop missing from Star Trek:TNG set?
What the hell kind of battery life will an i7 powered tablet have? 1-2 hours?

has a reasonably sceptical take on it, [url=http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/10/razers-project-fiona-is-a-gaming-tablet-prototype-and-it/]Joystiq seems to have just recycled a press release, and Gizmodo/Kotaku...well, it's Gawker Media, so the less said about that the better.
The peanut gallery over at RPS have just been roasting Razer over Fiona, and they've actually raised some reasonable problems over potential issues with RSIs and the like from holding it for any significant point of time. That thing's an ergonomics disaster.

So, if I wanted to play PC games while being outside the house, which device would be better and cheaper alternative? Laptop with a wireless controller would be option, but it wouldn't be so convenient, and maybe not so much cheaper.

Okay, well, for all other games, how would this be a preferable solution for mobile gaming versus a good smartphone (which you'd in all likelihood be carrying anyway) and a decent laptop? You can use both devices for a plethora of different uses besides gaming. What about Fiona? And don't get me started about battery life.
Right now, as it is, Fiona is Razor's own version of the Palm Folio: a highly specialized niche product which tries to be the solution for a problem no one has. My own prediction is that when Razor finally does bring this to market, it'll likely take the form of something like the Kindle Fire - a highly customized Android or Win 8 tablet with a custom UI specifically geared to partner up with an online vendor like EA/Origin, or Valve/Steam. It'll likely have some sort of goofy control scheme like a touchpad on the back, or the controllers integrated into the body instead of bolted to the side. And Razor will once again beat their chest and proclaim about how they've "saved PC gaming".

Ah, so Razer uses their (too) high pricetags to finance projects such as this? I'd be really interested in sales numbers, but I fear I will have forgotten about it when those become available.

(Maybe some play casual games or lighter fare on the go but when I and most I know play more involving fare it's usually on a laptop or desktop/console, while sitting at a table/desk/on a couch/etc)
Also as others said try lugging this awkwardly around by the handles while moving for an extended period(1 hour or longer) and you'll most likely regret even buying it......if the battery even lasts that long that is.

This looks crap, but the Razer Blade looks awesome. They keep saying they are about to give a release date, then they don't do it. Frustrating as hell : /

I guess I haven't been using my nose for gaming yet... such a huge oversight must be dealt with with haste!
