any of you guys remember playing those old ravenloft games? or perhaps menzoberanzen? I really loved that style of gaming, and its too oldschool for the newer generation of games.

I personally LOVED the Darksun games :) That was probably my favorite setting of the D&D stuff.

Yet another reason to have all the Goldbox games here. Only time will tell.

I hope GOG is working hard on being able to provide a satisfying Vampire promo in the near future (maybe make good for this year's Halloween sale next year?). To complement Redemption, BloodRayne and the available Legacy of Kain games, we'd still need Ravenloft, Blood Omen, Bloodlines (and maybe Veil of Darkness and A Vampyre Story?). And also Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures, so they could make a combined NWN/FRUA feature about Ravenloft & Vampire modules. ;)

I'm another Ravenloft fan here. I actually had a DM who ran a Castlevania style'd Ravenloft campaign (with obvious change such as Strahd rather than Dracula, etc...). I love the whole classical Gothic setting and the traditional horror feel. I like Ravenloft so much, on top of having the books, when I found out they were releasing a D&D board game I was almost first in line to get it! ^_^ I have been tempted to run Ravenloft in Pathfinder. Only trouble is getting a DM since I suck at DMing, and a group.

Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession was the second D&D based CRPG game I played after Menzoberranzan.

It got me hooked on the Ravenloft setting.

I'm actually doing Ravenloft games on mondays for a group of teens at a youth center close to where I live.

Has or does anyone own or play this? Cause I've been thinking about getting it for some time.

That's awesome man, kudos on doing such a good deed for them. Which version of Ravenloft are you doing, AD&D, 3rd, or 3.5ed? And if 3.5, D&D or Pathfinder?
I own it, and it is awesome! The board is modular puzzle-style pieces, so the game is never the same twice (well statistically unlikely at least), and you can play with as little as 1 person using some quests provided. PLUS you can intermix ALL of the D&D box sets together including Drizzt and the other one or two (I forget) available.

AD&D, I'm old school.

Doing it with teens gives me another perspective.

My friends (who are around my age) do fewer crazy things and generally play smarter, but they are also more jaded and less impressionable.

I think horror works best on younger minds.

Ah, good man while I'm a Pathfinder fan, I do enjoy AD&D more in some situations over 3rd/3.5ed.

Ah nice, yeah, I am happy to say I do some batshit crazy things still when I play games. For example my character kicking an rather pissed off orc in the crotch. :P

Yeah, plus it has a real Hammer studios/Stoker/Shelly/Lovecraft feel to it as well. Which are among my favourite takes on horror in many regards.
