I agree that taking a code just because it there isnt in my view correct.

Having said that it is natural hell we have all seen how fast these get snapped up, the likes of the wishingwell that used to (maybe still does) post a code for the released title it would last seconds. IIRC id seen posts asking if that poster had been yet. might aswell have added an image of a sign saying hint hint.

I do if I see a code try it but I dont hurry about it because I expect them to be taken. If its something I wont use I dont redeem. I prefer leaving it to chance if I enter things, for example the $5.99 game give away set by GOG today. and because I entered that im refraining from the $9.99 one.

there was for a while the accusation of code grabbing scripts etc but this is the internet, It happens.

We may not like certain things and point them out. I dont expect when I point something out for it to be acted upon, I point it out because its how I feel.

And please dont misunderstand, im not trying to imply anything, im slightly drunk, A friend of mine has come over from Norway and brought what I can only describe as drinkable paint stripper, that stuff is powerful.

Navagon: The problem goes beyond that. The over-generosity of the community is causing this entitlement culture to form just as much, if not more, than GOG's own generosity.

So now it looks like the rep abuse and bickering are back again. But this time because people want free games so badly that they're prepared to do anything to get them. I don't find the kind of behaviour I'm seeing here acceptable in 8 year olds. I certainly don't find it acceptable here.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Telnet: When the 50% promotion starts, I'm sure that some of the negative aspects will be reduced.
By a full half, according to my very scientific calculations.

keeveek: What is wrong, people complaining about GOG giveaway contest like "whaaaa ;(;((((( you suck gog because I was too late, I hate you goooog!" --> these people are just stupid.
avatar
wpegg: That's what he's complaining about.
...and I believe that is a valid thing to complain about.

You haven't been here when GOG introduced the "adaptive promos" (each game added reduced 5% of the total price and it started at 30% or 40%). Boy, some people where really bitching about not having a 60% flat weekend promo....

If there is a discount, then I honestly can't see why anyone would moan.

... Yes, I agree, this could get into a very circular discussion. Keeveek indicated that the OP was complaining about the F5'ers, not the entitlement culture.

Awww, aren't you adorable ...

;-P

(But I agree, others however didn't)

Because to some it wasn't enough, or it wasn't fair that those buying less than all the game got a lesser discount than those buying all a promo's/sale's games. Even if the discount difference was like 50 cents per game between buying all or only some games.

OP was complaining about the entitlement culture actually.

If they wanted the increased discount, then they should have bought more of the promo, if they decided not to, then they should be content with what they had.

Actually, they started at 25%, which is essentially what people were complaining about.

I get that but whining about not getting an extra 50+ cents off a game sounds silly to me tbh, unless you're dirt poor. And if that's the case then maybe you shouldn't be buying so many games.

Did I say that, I don't remember using the word 'circular'. I guess I should schedule myself for a reboot and a defrag...

I think wpegg messed up the quotes when replying. He said the one circular bit.
