adambiser: A little harder than anticipated since the bell ringers are gone. Gas station didn't have anything for donations either. Perhaps I'll have better luck tomorrow.

At what time will the drawing be, rampancy?
It would depend on what time zone you're in. I'll likely be doing the selection in the afternoon here, which would be like midnight-2 pm or so EST.

That's fine. I'm EST also. Nonetheless, I'll need to find something tomorrow and post that I can be entered.

know online stuff is easier, but I don't like giving out CC info over the internet (call me paranoid.) GOG is one of the handful of sites on which I use my CC and it took several months of observation before I did that.

Once again, great idea for a giveaway!

I dont know if i can be entered into the contest, but i would love to. Ive never donated to an international charity group such as the ones mentioned on this thread. However, i do donate every month to a local charity group in my city called ASCOMCER which treats people with cancer. I donate R$ 30,00 monthly (something like 18 dollars, not much really).

Its one of the only charity groups i trust, because i can really see that the donations are being used for people that really need assistance. Their work is really amazing. They have a good hospital which is a reference in cancer treatment, and they keep improving it.

And thanks for the giveaway, it was a great idea to encourage people to do something for charity.

Those are good charities too, in fact they usually have the lowest overhead (but not always).

I couldn't find the site I usually use to rate charities, but http://www.charitynavigator.org seemed like an okay stand in.

For example, compare the American Red Cross to IFAW (IFAW has a 25% overhead or so, which is pretty high in my opinion but pays it's CEO 1/3 of what the Red Cross does).

I do like Child's Play and there's lists of charities with 1% overhead (or less) out there. Sadly too many charities are more into business than into helping.
okay, I donated. Sent you a PM

wish all good luck
What a fantastic giveaway! In my opinion anyone, who participate, is a winner :)
Thank you for that, I just donated to Child's Play and send SMS to local foundation.
I can now be included in the list of participants. Thanks again!
Last Call for entries; special thanks to everyone who made an effort to donate! I'll be using random.org to pick the winner - my apologies in advance to those who aren't lucky this time around...

Current contestants are (assigned numbers are in the order of posting and are only for random.org selection purposes only):

1 - Tantrix
2 - danteveli
3 - csmith
4 - adambiser
5 - Neobr10
6 - Makr3la

I'll check back in about an hour or so, and announce the winners then.
Donation sent, IFAW is my (last minute) point of entry. And if I'm too late, I'm still glad I did, thanks!

OT but you can get a prepaid visa/etc card and use that for online donation you know. ;)

This is just a head's up if you want to ever shop online or donate online as with a prepaid card your liability is lessened and even if anyone gains access to your card number they don't gain access to any of your other info or bank account/etc.

Thanks for the info. I'll into it. Do they have fees? Technically I don't have a credit card, just debit hence the reason I need to be extra careful with what I use it for online.

I also use debit and stick to sites I know. But you can buy a prepaid visa/mc card in a store and use it in many places(Check before buying though to see if the card supports online purchases in other countries if you're going to send money with it to an int'l charity.), and just load it with the money you want to spend.

Also most cards don't charge fees but some charge a small fee per year(like 2 bucks or so.)...check the back of the card package before buying or look into it online before buying one to be sure.

No problem. Also I find it odd(Don't you?) that OP said last call for entries was 9 hours ago and then they didn't even draw anyone. Odd ain't it?

I do find it odd, but I found it odd that he announced the "last call" so early since he said afternoon EST, but then he said midnight-2 pm or so.
Might be odd, but I give rampancy the benefit of the doubt. Probably fell asleep after posting.
