Chaps, My memory isn't what it used to be....
I purchased the GOG Tom Clancy Promotion last weekend and although I've only concentrated on Rainbow Six, I enjoyed it so much I promised myself I'd look into getting the expansions and later full releases.
I have the two Vegas games on PS3 and 360, so I was keen to get the remaining Rainbow Six titles (I'm sure in the day I owned them all at some point).
So...
I see STEAM have Rainbow Six 3 Gold (which is fine, no issues in getting that).
But for the life of me, I cannot work out what Rainbow Six 2 is?
I'm guesing it's Rogue Spear? If so, are there expansions to this too?
You'd think with the abundance of material availble on the web I could have worked this out... but I'm old. need a nap and my soup is getting cold.
Rogue Spear is indeed Rainbow Six 2. And I'm pretty sure there are expansions to it too. More than one even.
Check mobygames for it.

Yes it was Rogue Spear. You can find a full list of all the games and expansions both on PC and Consoles here.
Wow, you guys shoot out the goods quicker than a Nun's first curry!
Thanks! though with some thought, I should have been able to do this myself :)

A Korean-only game called Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Take-Down – Missions in Korea was created for the South Korean market by KAMA Digital Entertainment. The game boasted South Korean Rainbow operatives and weapons with a different story and interface. As of May 2008, it is not available for purchase outside South Korea.
For what it's worth, when the movie The Sum of All Fears was released, they put out a video game based on it which was essentially a Rainbow 6 game. It pretty much worked off the same game engine, and had similar gameplay. So if you're really into the series, that's an option, too.
I never played Lockdown, but I don't think it did very well. Raven Shield, however, is my favorite, bar none. Love that game. Just absolutely beautiful.

Have to admit the R6 3 Gold Package on Steam looks great for the money.
But soon as I buy it, I just know it will appear on GOG!

Raven Shield's engine improvements blew me away. I remember opening a door during the tutorial, and discovering that you could open the door just a tiny bit to throw in a flashbang, instead of having to throw open the door like a police bust.
I loved ... uh, RS (Rainbow Six) and RS (Rogue Spear) before RS (Raven Shield) - this has to be the worst-thought-out series of game titles ever - but the improvements once they switched to the Unreal engine were fantastic.

Do it for us.
Raven Shield was an excellent balance of the realism, squad control and the general quality shooter but the lack of the detailed planning phase always disappointed me. That said, for a version that will just run without endless pissing about, I'd certainly buy it on gog (preferrably with expansion)

Exactly. I was also spoiled by the graphical and sound improvements. While the gameplay in the original R6 and Rogue Spear was fun, one thing that always disappointed me was how wussy the weapons sounded. The first time I unloaded an MP5 in Raven Shield, it actually sounded like a rip-roaring SMG letting loose, and I was sold. Add in the little things like being able to peek around corners, open doors fluidly with your mouse wheel, and an already good game was just refined to be even better.

Hmm? The planning phase is in Raven Shield too, is it not?
Unless I'm getting my games mixed up its not, or at least you get the weapon select and a view of the map but no control. Shit maybe i'm thinking of the wrong game
i played rainbow six and rogue spear and loved them, can't seem to get into them now
do the sequels feel the same? i would love to play it with updated graphics, but i don't want a consolized, action game
Raven Shield was awesome, as I said earlier its the best balance between the Rainbow Six realism & control and the more modern (good) shooter prettiness and fluidity.
Play it rambo and you'll probably end up a bloody smear on the ground and it can be an awesome experience when played right
The GOG release of Rainbow Six is fast becoming my favorite purchase of the year.
I do have fond memories of this game (in the days where LAN parties happened each weekend).
CO-OP was so intense when you played with your mates.
I remember time and time again getting so close to finishing a mission and getting taken out by a terrorist you never noticed (especially on the oil rig levels).
Dare I suggest a Hamachi session at a good time for all of us.... (I know it's an outrageous suggestion).
