When it comes to living in Canada, what's it like for you as a gamer? Are there plenty of retail outlets like Gamestop around? Is there more smaller businesses that sell games locally in Canadian cities?

When it comes to the internet, is it easy to shop for games? How many road blocks do you get to where you can't use a certain platform or digitally purchase a game because it's for U.S. only? Usually as an American I don't seem to get many blocks, but I know some other countries do, whether it's game related or streaming shows online.

Is www.amazon.com just as good as www.amazon.ca ? I know amazon prime is new to Canadian's, starting in early 2013, but in general is it a good place to shop for all of your entertainment needs (i.e., blu ray's, dvd's, video games, TV's, second-hand games, etc.)

Are any websites better than Amazon.com in Canada, that are based in Canada, for selling games, or even computer components or accessories?

I could ask a million different questions from all sorts of topics, but I'll stick to game related ones ;)

Some of this might sound naive, but I'm just curious if it's any different up north.

Is it true Canada has it's own laws?

What about electricity? Indoor plumbing?

Do you wear clothing in Canada or all you all just a bunch of naked savages?

I'm sorry it's just that I live on the border and the only way you'd know it was a different country is a sign that says "Entering Canada". Well that and they have health care, and effective gun control, and Rush.

as far as laws, it's mostly up to our leader, the Hub-Jub Tim Horton... We have a fire council with him about once a month and all the major criminals are either exiled or are kept alive.

As for cloths we usually have to stick to our parka's otherwise we get sever frost bite. During the summer we can usually dress down to nothing more than our seal skin long johns...

Uh, power is rare to come by, most communities don't have it but the ones near the US boarder have a really long power cable that goes underground to the nearest power station and brings electricity to us, it's very expensive to do so it doesn't happen very often...

We've all been keeping this secret (you're about to get to know soon anyway, so there's no danger to me sharing this now), but everyone outside the USA that you've been "observing" are holograms and procedurally generated data packages. It's incredible how simple your intelligence agencies are to fool, you're still stuck in the 21st century, aren't you? Anyway, the rest of humanity says "hi" from a couple galaxies away, we've abolished the notion of "nations" and all live as a single interplanetary community.

But they also spawned Justin Bieber, which goes to show you that every utopia has it's dark, seedy underbelly of unspeakable horror.

Do you have good Colleges, such as does your country has its own Harverd/Oxford?

In all honesty... depends where you are, the real good ones are in southern Ontario, Waterloo, Trent, McMasters, Fanshaw... those are hte major ones I'm aware of at least.

Yes, there are game retail stores - the most common one being Electronics Boutique (at least in BC, I don't know about other provinces), or "EB Games" as I think they've rebranded themselves. There are a few mom-n-pop retail outlets but they aren't all that common, though there's a great store in Toronto that specializes in classic gaming. It's mostly fine - most sites treat "North America" as a single region and offer the same stuff (Amazon being a notable exception, see below). Unless you're buying physical products, that is - in that case, you can still usually buy the same stuff, but you probably won't be eligible for free shipping deals, so it can be a fair bit more expensive for that reason. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Amazon.com is to Amazon.ca what Barnes & Noble is to a box of used paperbacks that's been mislabelled "Christmas Lights" and then abandoned at the curbside in the rain for three weeks. Not since we signed NAFTA. :p [/lawyer joke] Plumbing would freeze instantly. We "shower" by rubbing ourselves on sleeping polar bears, and then get our morning exercise by running the other way very fast. (That's the real reason the polar bears are turning brown, by the way.) Actually, we're all blood descendants of Santa Claus, so we dress accordingly. Just look at our Supreme Court.

We don't have an "Ivy League" system in Canada - most universities and colleges are of at least decent quality. There are differences, of course, and some are better than others in particular fields, but you don't get that same huge drop in prestige from the top tier down to the second rung. I graduated from the University of Victoria which, while well-regarded, probably isn't one of the biggest names in the country, but I've never felt like I might get passed over for a job because my school wasn't as impressive as another applicant's.

I learned from some cartoon a long time ago that there is a river of wieners (sausages) separating Canada from US.

BTW, do the people in Quebec receive only French-localized versions of games in Steam etc.?

All kidding aside this is a good question. Quebec is beautiful but anyone who's been there knows how passionate they are about being French speakers and this is a question I'd love to know the answer to.
