I just went to the suggestion list and saw games suggested as recent at games like Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and LEGO Star Wars. Do people forget this site is for classic games that you cannot find anymore without pirating or if your disc no longer works on newer machines, or do these people just have wishful thinking.
very much big with the wishful thinking.
and after all... everything becomes old eventually...
just depends if its good.

please, do a search next time, ok?
We seriously get a new one of these threads like, every 3 days. like Andy_Panthro said, even new games become old eventually, and other than that they may just want to see the game without DRM.
please, do a search next time, ok?
Has the search function been fixed? Last time I used it, it just returned every single thread regardless of what was placed in the search box.

it does work, you have to be specific with your terms. if you do a search for 'the' you'll find every thread with the word the in the actual thread and not just the thread title.
EDIT: for example do a search for "gems" and you'll easily find the software gems thread.

Why are there New/Unreleased Games on the Wishlist?
Its a wishlist, people are going to put on it what they wish to see on GOG someday, even if they are new or unreleased games. The GOG team members who review the list are intelligent enough to determine which items on the wislist are reasonable requests and which are not.
I guess I should bump the FAQ back up again

please, also, make a guide for using the search function properly..
it's a free text box and the internet is full of retarded idiots. I think that answers the question pretty well. Hell some wankers have put starcraft 3 on there when 2 isn't even out...
I like cogadh's answer, and Weclock, I am sorry, but I didn't think about searching at the time.
I just do not like when recent games are put in the wishlist because they bump out anything else that people might vote for, and some people put up more than one request for the same game. I just wish the owners would do a filtering like every other Tuesday.

Agreed. Make just about anything freely open to the interwebs and retards flock to it like moths to a light.
And I totally agree that new games shouldn't be on there at all. If it was released in the last five years it should be ineligible to be on the list.

We already have games newer than that in the catalog: Darkstar One, Colin McRae 2005, Flatout, Gothic 2, the soccer game Weclock mentioned... I'm sure there are others, but I can't be bothered to look right now.
As a wishlist, nothing should be excluded from it, they are just wishes. If you don't want to see a particular game on GOG, then don't vote for it, but there is absolutely no reason to exclude a game from the list based on its current age. Eventually that game will be old and "eligible" for the GOG treatment.

Exactly, instead of banning games or filtering them, they should just get a better organization of titles set up. (i.e. being able to sort alphabetically, browsing by "you voted for X, people who voted for X also voted for Y" sort of suggestion).

I think "The GOG Treatment" sounds too much like a shady hair replacement system, might I suggest we call adding games "GOGification"?
In order to filter out the 'too new' games, they;d have to build a pretty sophisticated rules based expert system with a database of practically every game ever made. If there wasn't an exact match in the database It'd have to pull words out of the title individually and run a series of checks to try and compile the most likely result, cross-check that against the database, pull the year of the release and then accept or deny it.
I've made one of these expert systems and they're pretty damned complicated (especally when you use O1 instead of 01 when numbering subroutines, lost WEEKS of work on that thing, all because the font made them look too similar) and would have no practical benefit other than to save a human operator the trouble of saying "thats way too new, what the hell is that idiot thinking??"
