Hi, as some of you may know Amazon.com doesn't ship certain items like PC games to South American countries like Peru which is where I live. Luckily a friend of mine will be traveling the the USA for the holidays and he has let me order some games using his family's address for shipping.
I want to buy only DRM-free games but I haven't found much info on which games have DRM. So far this is my list:
- Prince Of Persia Sands of Time Trilogy ($8.69): I read in a forum somewhere that the games in this collection didn't have DRM but I haven't found confirmation on this.
- Prince of Persia ($9.34): I know for sure that the newest PoP doesn't have protection.
- Penumbra Collection ($9.99): I'm not sure on this one. The versions on GamersGate seem to be DRM-free but I don't have any info on the retail version.
I hope some of you can help me. Can anybody confirm if these games are in fact DRM-free for their retail versions? Any recommendations of other games with similar prices are welcome too.

Do you mean no disc check either? If I listed games with no activation style DRM we could be here all night, but no disc check or DRM is rare.
Call of Juarez Bound in Blood has no DRM or disc check.
Many games have their disc check patched out and had no other form of DRM, such as The Witcher or Quake 4.

Prince of Persia Sands of Time is using Safedisc or Securom (Disc Check). New PoP is DRM free.
Edit: Not Securom, It has Safedisc.

I'm fine with a simple disc check as long as it doesn't install Securom, TAGES, or any DRM that requires a hidden driver.
Are you sure this applies to the trilogy version too? If so, too bad :(
That one is definitely on the list :D too bad the DLC isn't available for PC though.

I don' t know Trilogy but I have them retail and seperate.
Sands of Time is using Safedisc (Disc Check)
Warrior Within is using Safedisc (Disc Check)
Two Thrones is using StarForce (Disc Check)

I'll look for info on the trilogy version then. I'm now considering Devil May Cry 4, I think it doesn't have DRM either.

Fun fact: Disc checks ARE DRM. Hell, they probably all have the Securom Disc Check (second link said that there was a disc check).
Don't confuse the Securom disc check (which has been around for something like 10 years I think) and the activation model (which has been around for two years or so).
What you seem to be/should be opposed to are Starforce (we are all opposed to that thing) and activation model DRM.
Either that or you have no idea what DRM is and are just opposed to it on principle alone :P

There's varying degrees of disk checks. The OP might not like Securom because it puts drivers on your system, just as Starforce does.
Personally I have no problems with Starforce. Works with Vista with a patch, so I'm happy. It seems no different to any other disk check in my experience.

I had no problems with it until it sacrificed my disk drive to its pagan gods. This was a fairly early version of starforce though so I don't know if the ritual sacrifice has changed but I don't care to find out.
I've got a couple bookmarks to starforce and securom games list but neither appear to be working at the moment which is odd.

Actually, to my knowledge, no securom that JUST checks the disc puts drivers on the system.

The whole "____ disc check system ruined my drive!" thing is mostly hyperbole. No one can really say "I know Starforce ruined my disc drive." I used Starofrce endless times when it was out and never had a problem... heck, I recently played Chaos Theory again on Win7 with Starforce and had no issues.
And yeah, every disc check has a company behind it, SecuROM, TAGES, whoever. They are still just disc checks and should not install drivers. Maybe a rare few do, so let's point them out, but most do not. Fallout 3 for instance has a SecuROM disc check, but that is seriously all it is, a disc check.
There is a point where DRM aversion becomes paranoia in other words.
