Hi. I've been using the forums here on GOG more often recently, but recently noticed that my rep dipped slightly. When looking back, I realized that one of my two habits likely caused this. My guess is that it was either:
A: Posting links to songs on youtube (copy-written material) or
B: Swearing profusely, not in any kind of threatening, hateful way, just doing it.
Can someone please help me figure out which of these activities caused this dip, if either, so I can stop?

Trolls, dude, stupid trolls. Also, and sadly, there are a lot of idiots who doesn't know when they must to give -1.

If there was a copyright issue, you would have heard from a GOG forum staff member by now. Also, I don't think anyone minds a bit of swearing here. Moreover, I don't think rep decreases unless a singular post is downvoted three times in succession, but I might be wrong.

Regardless, forum rep is useless more or less, so I wouldn't stress about it.

Same over here, but you know, in these forums there are a lot of hypocrites who "support" some copyright laws, when they often download different things from The Pirate Bay.

Of course, not all the people do that, and no, I'm not in favor of piracy.

Rep is just that....reputation. Nobody gets their account suspended for having low rep, so I wouldn't worry about it. That's not to say being a complete and utter douche wouldn't warrant both low rep AND a suspension, but that would depend much more heavily on the degree of douchebaggery.

I just figured that low rep might mean I was doing something I wasn't supposed to, and wanted to stop if it did.

Apparently some moron has had a bot downrepping everyone on the forum for shits and giggles, so you may have fallen victim to that as well. I've noticed my rep dipping on occasion as well of late despite not actually posting anything particular controversial or malicious.

I think you get downrepped for asking why your rep is going down. It normally works that way.

try not to take it to heart, to be honest the community (most of it) will happily let you know if there was a problem - and i mean that in a good gentle way not yelling at way. so i suspect its the act of the down-rep-idiot.
