The AC games are onsale on Steam and im thinking about buying the first and second one, but i need to ask something first. Are these games similar to Prince of Persia games? Is there ALOT of platform jumping? I only played Forgotten Sands but i rage quit near the end because of the fustrating platform jumping and will never buy another Prince game.

Basically, i do not like platform jumping games but i do enjoy action adventure games. If you have played these games, can you tell me if i will like these games and if there are alot of platform jumping that might cause me to rage quit. Thanks.
Most people suggest not to bother with the first one as it may put you off the others. I Have only played the first one....it put me off the others :)
Nah platforming is pretty stupid in the AC games, you pretty much hold the Awesome button (or parkour button) and your character will climb and jump by himself.
If you should buy them? That's up to you.
There is an Anthology edition coming for PS3/360 so I'm guessing it'll also come out for PC later on. But that might take a long time. They're decent games so you probably won't be too disappointed if you can get them cheap.
AC is in no form referable with the gameplay of pop. Your are walking in modes in AC. Slow and fast and you character acts automatical while climbing when you're running. You only have to change the speeds through these modes (pushing one button) and you don't have line levels. It's open world.
AC is far easier than pop.

If you have any question, just ask.
Drop AC1, you neither need nor want it.

Number 2 is fun, worth playing. It's not POP like, it's more of an rpg without any levelling. It does have a good story, and it's fun to play. I would recommend you buy AC2

EDIT: I hated AC3 because they made it a task in micro control management.

No, no platforming.

Also ignore the above about skipping the original. I really love the original, and prefer it to the newer ones. It's all subjective. The original is more simple and focuses on the core concept, which I enjoy more than all the fluff of the sequels.

Well AC1 does contain a significant part of the (somewhat crappy) story and it'll make you appreciate 2 more :P
Thanks for all your responses. I still have about 2 hours to decide if i want to buy them or not.
Well, the main issue people have with AC1 is the repetitiveness.

After the opening sequences, the middle of game is a string of assassination missions, until you hit the endgame.

First you have to walk/ride all the way to the city, which can be kind of tedious because guards freak out if you move faster than a crawl.

Then you have to climb up X landmarks to make quests appear on the map, and then finish Y quests (like go to this location and eavesdrop, or jump along a certain route on the rooftops) to get information about the target. And after that the assassination story mission opens up.

It's enjoyable the first couple times, but the story doesn't advance much after each one (and is rather predictable other than a few weird elements to it) much and then you realize that you have to do an assassination mission in each section of each city before the endgame. And there's a cliffhanger at the end.

It's not too bad if you don't go in with a completionist attitude and pace yourself so you don't burn out on it, since the side missions and collecting a bajillion flags sucks. Can't say anything about the later games.
So much negativity for the original. I personal think the original is the best, it keeps the idea simple and throws in a good story to boot.

I can understand why it's considered repetitive but it's half the reason I like it. Bare in mind it was essentially one big tech demo.

My opinion is buy and finish the first two and if you like those play the rest. They're quite similar in game play but are quite well made games and for the most part have a good story in each of them.
The Assassin's Creed games are some of the most overrated pieces of crap I ever played. I have no idea what people like about them...
I thought the original was a lot of fun. Just be careful to resist the urge to jump into smile piles of hay from 5th story buildings after playing.

Unfortunately the US isn't getting the anthology, which is where the OP is from. I'd imagine the PC version would be no different than buying all games/DLC on sale now.

Subjectivity is hard.
I am another person who enjoyed the first one and didn't like the fluf of the second. I also played 2.1 (Brotherhood), and was pretty annoyed that it was almost just AC2 repackaged. That is when I gave up, it should not have been sold as a new game.
I gifted Assassin's Creed 1 to my little brother (he was 11-12 back then). He really liked the game, so I tried to play it. It was very boring, I quit and I gifted to my little brother Planescape: Torment. At least he liked this one even more.
