Falci: Thanks for the tip. ;)
I just tried R1Q2, but like Quake2xp, when I install and copy the baseq2 folder from the steam installation of the game, I don't seem to be able to start a single player campaign.
I couldn't find any indications on why.
rampancy: Assuming you followed the installation instructions correctly, you do have everything in the baseq2 folder in your Steam install correctly brought over to Quake2xp, right? What sort of error messages or specific problems do you have when you try to start a single player game?
In both cases I copied the baseq2 folder and a couple off dlls from the game primary folder.
In both cases there is no error message. In case of R1Q2, for example, hitting enter over any of the difficulty options will just reset the menu back to the initial menu. I don't quite remember what happens with quake2xp, but it is similar, no error message nor anything, it simply doesn't start the game.
StingingVelvet: widescreengaingforum.com has a nice writeup on how to get all the old id games working on new source ports that I followed back in the day and still use. It also tells you how to get the Quake 2 music without the CD.
I'll check this one too, thanks!
