I purchased Theme Hospital as part of the Shutdown promo, and paid via PayPal.

PayPal sent me a confirmation e-mail, as did Good Old Games. In addition, the website told me my order was successfully completed and to find my game in my account.

The game is not showing up in my account, and no, it isn't hidden.

For a first-time buyer, this is definitely not a good first impression. Is there a reason GoG takes money instantly without providing the good in return?

You posted a screen shot of the order confirmation, can you post one of your game shelf? It should be on there.
Please visit https://secure.gog.com/account/refresh and check if game appeared in your games list.

It does not appear.

Here is a screenshot of my shelf.

Kindly direct me to where I can request a refund, or if I file an issue with PayPal.

Just unhide one of your games, the bought game will appear with it on the normal shelf

Thank you, that seemed to solve the issue.

Ridiculous thing to have to do, however, but worked nonetheless.
Regardless of how ridiculous it is, I think you owe GOG an apology.

This. I have just replied to your support ticket, but gave pretty much the same advice (only in a TL;DR version;)).

Well, no, that looks like a bug, or at least an odd feature on the shelf.
Don't worry, it's just shy .

I owe them an apology because of an issue not caused by me, that is nowhere to be found on the website saying "hey, we're aware of this", to let people know?

Hmm, nope. I appreciate the quick support time from Chimercial, and the e-mail response from the support team, however.

Fair enough, and a bug is a pain, no doubt, but the original post goes a little far flat out accusing GOG of taking his money and not giving him the game. He could have at least waited for a reply before calling them out for screwing him.

There is a reason. A bug. Which has been explained. With that being said, I apologize for the accusatory statement that tinyE quoted from me, which was unnecessary to say for an opening post.

You said they took your money and didn't give you the game. That is not true.

From what I could see on my end, without knowing of any bug, yes, it appeared that way. The reason was caused by a bug.

Now that it's been solved, I apologized for that particular comment and retract it.
