MoP: Meanwhile, on Kickstarter:
Double Fine Adventure
Now this is fucking huge news!

A new point and click adventure headed by Tim Schafer? WORDS FAIL HAPPY SOMETHING GOD FUCK YES
Another reason why this must happen:

Update:

"Who knows? Well, Schafer might. “Notch was serious about the offer,” he says. “We haven’t gone through what that would mean in a detailed way, but it’ a possibility. He has a couple of dollars… and you know, he’s one of those guys who has been successful and is handling it in a new way. Instead of joining a country club, he’s doing the things he thought were cool, before he was rich. He wants to make games. That’s what I would do if I had money.”"

It is a possibility

(though it is really a recap...)
I wonder if Notch is viewing it as an investment opportunity or just a funding one. Either way is great for us the players since we get more games out of the situation - but for Notch directly if he only funds (rather than invests) chances are he might run out of cash fast - a shame since having a "gamer" with the capital to invest and push on popular, if niche interest, games is a great thing for the gaming community.

As far as I understand, he just want to play Psychonauts 2.... but it is not to say that he is probably quite aware of how it looks if it is "Tim Schafer's Psychonauts 2 - Published by Mojang"

More than fast, Notch made a "hefty" sum with Minecraft... but its for an Indy game which had a minimum development costs. But now he has a company, multiples employees, which must be paid every months, multiple projects down the pipes which are still months of development away from release date; Mojang won't last very long if he is not very careful with his money.

Exactly, which is why I hope that he'd invest rather than just fund. Funding is good, don't get me wrong, but I'd be sad to see someone willing to help push niche interest games into the market suddenly run out of cash (and it can happen very easily).

"Minecraft creator Makus "Notch" Persson is able to match Tim Schafer's $13 million Psychonauts 2 development budget valuation.
"I can do that," he told the Double Fine boss.
"I was like, 'I don't think you can make [it] for a million dollars'," Schafer told Kotaku.
"The original game was, I think, $13 million, I think you have to match the original game.
"As soon as I mentioned the amount of money he said, 'Yeah, I can do that.'""

consider at one point last year we know Notch was making over 600k a week (the amount Paypal locked on him was 1 weeks purchases which he said was over 600k)
if we assume he kept that rate for only 6 months last year and give each month only 4 weeks thats...
6x4x600=27600k or over 27 and a half million o.O

Notch brings in a few if's
I can certainly sympathies with the fact that he does not want the hype built up - even though some might argue that he encouraged it the shift from regular person into what is pretty much a celebrity status (even if just within the gamer community) is something he'll have to get used to (bonus is gamers have short attention spans* so if he quietens down a little he should be able to slip into the background without much trouble.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, I'm encouraged that it is being approached as an investment and not just Notch throwing money at things .

"RPS: I can’t let you go without asking about the Psychonauts 2 thing.
Tim: Psychonauts 2 thing?
RPS: Do you think the Kickstarter has got you out of that?
Tim: [laughs] It’s a distraction! [Notch] made that comment right before we started the Kickstarter thing. I was like, oh god, do we still launch the Kickstarter? This is becoming a thing. Then we launched it anyway. He made one tweet, and I think he was very surprised that it exploded. We’re taking a step back and thinking about what we could do, because he’s an interesting guy, and he can make interesting things happen. We need to take a breath and thing about what we can do.
RPS: We’re keen for it to go ahead, as Notch said we could have the credit.
Tim: [laughs] Well, maybe it will happen! I don’t know.
RPS: Are you planning to meet with him at GDC?
Tim: Should I say? Well, I’m sure we’ll meet at GDC and talk about things. We’ve got a lot going on!"
