Tim Schafer have previously mentioned that he would like to make a sequel to Psychonauts, but lacked the backing. Today Notch offered to back him over twitter, stating that he was serious.

Will be interesting to see if Schafer accepts a twitter proposal - Psychonauts 2 distributed by Mojang?

Hell no, I don't want to spend hours literally digging for the arrowheads!
YEEESSS!!! YEEEESSSSSS!!!
This would be amazing, but this rash, quick unexpectedness reminds of the "duel" invitation to Bethesda. Have a bad feeling that he will be ignored.

Don't know much about the creator of Psychonauts, though.

Schafer is a pretty cool dude.
Who knows?

Plus, If I were to make a game, I'd rather have Notch providing the cash, than say EA or Activision.
Publishers like that would likely put loads of creative pressure on Schafer one way or another.

Nothing would probably ever come from this. But you never know what could happen, these are interesting times after all! XD

(I'd say something like this would work out great for everyone. Notch gets to play with his money, and Schafer gets to have another shot at glory. Its not like a game like Psychonauts 2 would cripple Notch if it was a failure, (considering his new projects are insanely ambitious), and at least we might get a 3 platform launch on it, (360, PS3, and PC (maybe WiiU?)))

I personally hope that its digital only and reasonably priced to start with.
(Like Super Meat Boy, Binding of Isaac and Machinarium, in the sense that its released on Retail with a couple of extras later)

I really liked the humor and atmosphere of the Psychonauts, so yes, I guess I would be in game for more.

Apart from the fact that he's the guy who created your avatar? ;)
This might turn out great if Tim Schafer gets to create a "proper" sequel (no mainstream-restrictions etc) and Notch's reputation as well as that of Psychonauts provides the necessary publicity.

If notch just wants to fund the game and he will have no control over it - then that's fine with me

however if he wants to be involved with the actual development of the game then I think that's a really bad thing

thankfully so far, it seems to be the first point that he's going for
Who cares about Psychonauts 2?

HOW ABOUT PORTING THE CONSOLE EXCLUSIVES TO PC FIRST?
I have felt free to crosspost this thread to SPUF.

I hope this becomes a reality, and that it becomes more commercially successful than the first Psychonauts. Let's just hope that Mojang has the know-how for publishing games like this.

And is it just me who is chauvinistic, or is Sweden becoming a very important country when it comes to supporting these more risky projects? Paradox, who helped creating Penumbra & Magicka (a game that they were told "would never sell"), and releases a lot of niche games (East India Company, Pride of Nations, Cities in Motion, Majesty, Elven Legacy, Gettysburg: Armored warfare, King Arthur, Achtung Panzer, Warlock, War of the roses, Cartel, A game of Dwarves and the list can probably be made longer, those were just the names that popped up in my head) is also Swedish.
