DIgging a bit more, it looks like it may only have been the European launch promo that was affected. There's no system in place for transferring the games though, so Sony have thoroughly pissed off their best customers.
(Don't know about re-downloading, though I don't see why it wouldn't work, as long as the same hardware was used to play the game.)

Well the downloads are compatible with the other PSPs as well and from what I understand you can redownload them as many times as you like and the downloads are authorised for up to 5 devices as long as your account ID is signed in

The PSP No-Go has NO tangible benefit over the standard PSP 3.0 except to slavish technophiles who just *have* to have the new shiny. And I don't think anyone should be encouraging an addiction.

You don't need to sign in to PLAY, just to download and authorize the game for use for one time, I think. That's a lot better than Steam.

I have to admit, when I saw the PSPgo, I briefly thought about upgrading from my PSP 1001. Until I found out that it had no UMD drive...and no removeable battery...and they were switching from Memory Stick Pro Duos to Micro SD cards...and the battery life would still remain the same...and, finally, that there was still no second analog nub.
Seriously; getting rid of the UMD drive, with NO way to tranfer the games you already bought over to it? Making it so you can't use your Memory Stick Pro Duos, and have to buy ALL NEW Micro SD cards? And still no increase in battery life? I mean...wow...just...wow. I like Sony systems better than Microsoft's or Nintendo's, but I think the execs at Sony are drunk, high, or just stupid, because they've made some DUMB decisions. If it weren't for the PS3 price drop, they'd be in serious trouble right now.

I see nothing I could benefit from over my PSP-1006 with the Go. The online store has been available for all the previous models for a long time now, with both PSP and PSX Games you can download to the memory stick. Can't say I like the new design either, as it's probably even less to have my rather big hands grasp around. In fact, I see the damn thing more as something that is inferior in every way, with no new features at all that interest me, and removal of the most vital physical medium of games.

I have had my PSP since 2006 now, and I really enjoy it... more than I can say for the PSP Go. I'd rather buy a DSi and have a bit of cash left over for games. Sony touts the Go as never having to use UMDs and carry them around again! Yeah, because we all know carrying a gram's worth of games is so excruciating, compared to downloading a friggin gigabyte of games wireless... which isn't even in 802. 11b.

I would have thought their SecuROM DRM, their enforcement of proprietary media (so if you buy something from them, you're buying more from them and at a far higher cost than the equivalent), their enforcement of regional restrictions, the fact that they used the PS3 purely as a means of forcing out any competition to their DRM riddled Blu-Ray format, their Blu-Ray format and the fact that they've completely forsaken that which made them what they are - their dedication to peerless quality consumer electronics would be further up the list.
